So who else is planning to piss away valentines day playing video games or some other activity that will hopefully make you forget this wretched day?

Don't get me wrong, Valentines day is great, if you have someone. For me and a lot of people it seems impossible to find someone. I'm only 21 so I'll live, but for people in their 30s and 40s that have never found someone, its unforgivable. Its like a big slap in the face. I think Valentines day should be something much more private between the couples.

Whos with me?

Valentines day sucks. I'm always sure to be alone on valentines day just so I don't have to buy overpriced roses and candy for no better reason than "The greeting card companies need money"

Yyyyyep. I'm gonna be at home playing video games and surfing the internet, probably posting on here about how alone I am in the "Are you alone today" topic that will be very popular.

I don't particularly mind, it seems like a really shallow holiday when you get down to it. I find the notion that people who aren't in a relationship are being left out kind of silly. I don't feel left out.

I'll be in school all day.

Minecraft, the interwebz and a new episode of House will be the only things keeping me company.

Valentines day, because only weak people need other people.
No that's not a good contribution. Must try harder. However the truth is I just dont care about it enough to really be outraged at the disgusting corporate scam that it is. If couples are happy to be duped into spending thier hard-earned/mummy and daddys cash on stupid things to 'celebrate' their love for one another in spite of the fact that it will all come crashing down on them one day and they'll end up in a pit of self hatred like the rest of us, only more humiliated because they did it on valentines day then that's just fine. No skin off my nose.

I enjoy my freedom.

I've learned all social interaction with others in the last 2 years about, before that I was completely isolated growing up. I don't think you want my mind released of inhibitions, God only knows what I'd do.

I don't really mind it but i'm gonna be at college the entire day and i can tell thats all people are gonna talk about.

Already placing bets as to how many Valentine related threads i'm gonna see on this site though that will annoy me more...

Also to the people who ***** about not having anyone... Just watch this...It'll all seem better

YEAH!

Well, 18 and single, but still. The thing that pisses me off about holidays like Christmas and Valentines is that they are so "up-in-your-face" about it. Hearing NON-STOP CHRISTMAS MUSIC is certainly a punishment in at least one circle of hell, and Valentines day isn't much better at being unobtrusive. It seems like the only really non-commercialized holiday these days is Thanksgiving (I know, I know, give it time.)

Well, considering I'm going to be busy all day with work and then school I won't really have much time to do anything on Valentine's Day anyway.

A year ago, I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you however, I've changed in the past year so now I don't mind the holiday.

Thanksgiving is THE best holiday of the year, if you do it right. It just feels like what a holiday should be, its in the hands of the families to make it wholesome, not corporate America. Plus my B-day is on thankgiving every couple of years lol.

Really? its one day and its barely even marketed compared to other holidays/events, does it really get shoved in your face that much on the actual day?
Getting upset about valentines day reminding you of being alone just seems lame. don't wallow in the misery, just treat it like you would any other day

Red candies everywhere, mushy commercials etc. Thats just from the marketing. If you consider all your friends that have GF talking about their plans and doing all sorts of PDA in front of you, yeah... It gets bad.

<link=http://www.vday.org/home>Vday is wonderful! Who couldn't support a day dedicated to ending violence against women? Oh wait, you meant Valentines day, and not the movement that actually popularized the V-day name. Well, in that case, in it's current form, it's one of those holidays that was cooked up to sell greetings cards, like mother's and father's day. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy it if you have someone to enjoy it with, but it does mean you shouldn't get all mopey just because you lack a date. Heck, if you look up the medieval St. Valentines day, the myth was that the first person of the opposite gender that you saw would one day marry you -- meaning it was a day to pick up chicks, not a day to spend with your current girlfriend. I'd say @Suilenroc has the right idea, if you truly want to celebrate Valentines day. :p
