I don't even like superhero films but I am so on board with this. Looks fantastic.

Wait, what? That's great news! WWDitS was a lot of fun, bodes well for the humour aspect of this film at least.

It looks like were being set up for World War Hulk, and I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

Now if Marvel can get the rights to Ghost Rider and he can make a cameo in that I'll jump on the Marvel train.

Just watched it 5 sec ago. I don't know all that much about the Thor lore, but this already looks more interesting than the previous Thor movies. May consider watching it, if it's not too close to other superhero movies at release.

The soundtrack is so appropriate too, pretty much a Viking song dedicated to Thor (Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin in case any are not aware)

We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

This looks great, lots of fun and good humor I hope. So, typical marvel universe expectations there. Gladiator Hulk was a nice surprise and do look forward to that and, hopefully, world war hulk event. Overall, I am optimistic about this one, as I have been for pretty much every marvel universe movie for a while. They really haven't broken the streak yet, doesn't look like they will with this one either. Marvel fatigue may be becoming more real though.

Guess they're done playing Thor for drama huh.

He was in Agents of SHIELD, so I imagine they do.
TV rights are different from film rights though.

Oh shit, I didn't realize it was the same director! My excitement for this movie just shot way up.

OT: This looks like a lot more fun than the vast majority of the past MCU movies. These movies are so much better when they embrace the silliness.

Totally...Awesome!!!!

I love the Led Zeppelin build up to Hela just crushing Mjolnir--that set the tone straight away! Introducing the Norse Goddess of Death as a total badass is smart--Thor's got too much of a reputation for being able to defeat nearly anyone. Hela catching and crushing his hammer and generally curb stomping Thor shows wonderful promise!

For those unfamiliar with the lyrics from Zepplelin's "Immigrant Song":

Ahh! Ahh!
We come from the land
Of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun
Where the hot springs blow

The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde
Sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

Ahh! Ahh!
We come from the land
Of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun
Where the hot springs blow

How soft your fields so green
Can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the tides of war
We are your overlords

On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

So now you'd better stop
And rebuild all your ruins
For peace and trust can win the day
Despite of all your losing

*sigh* I was gonna not watch it, but Im gonna see Thor trailers no matter what, so fuck it.

Anyways, oh look, Marvel schooling DC on how to make a trailer and how to properly use licensed music.

Its all MCU. Though as I pointed out above, that Ghost Rider is not the original Ghost Rider, so maybe they loop-holed it.

I love Thor's reaction to seeing the Hulk in the arena. It's silly, but Hemsworth makes it endearing. Actually, I find the interactions between the MCU characters to be some of the most entertaining stuff Marvel has on offer.

Also, I like that Marvel has become confident enough to bring the more 'out there' material to the big screen. Comics can be downright silly at times, and that's fine.

Technically the original ghost rider did show up for one scene but they very carefully showed as little as possible of him

This is only the first 'teaser' trailer, so there's plenty of time to, for example, spoiler a whole bunch of scenes/plot points.

Did they ever start?
I dunno, I think they're playing him more for the overdramatic kind of drama. The theatrical, epic tales kind of level of drama.
I mean, you could say that BvS was played for drama, and it sucked. I think they just decided to go God level kinds of dramatic stories (and also humor, the old Norse tales were some silly tales at times), and run with it.

With this and GotG 2, Marvel seems to be definitely zoning in on the whole 80's nostalgia for marketing. Which is weird because GotG was nothing like an 80's film. Hell, even the songs on Star Lord's mixtape were all from the 70's. Neither of the actual film footage in the new trailers looks like they have any 80's aesthetics at all. If anything it feels like Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element".

With that being said, the trailer was very well made. I rarely watch cape films anymore because they just don't engage me (not counting exceptions like Logan), but every time I watch a trailer from Marvel I get that little voice that whispers to me "Hey, this might be different..." before my rationality returns and tells me nothing will really change until the end of Avengers 3. Still, I would do this over DC's line up due to trailers only.

Come on DC, get your shit together already.

I'm not up to speed on actual Norse mythology, or if this is an actual comic run in movie form, but does Mjolnir get destroyed in the actual mythology?

Style is all over the place, what's with the retro synthwave text on Led Zeppelin.

I'll try to be optimistic, but after how Josh Trank's Fantastic Four turned out, I'm not all aboard on the 'let's give blockbusters to indie directors' train.
