Of course there's sweet fuck all to actually go on, that being the nature of teasers.

However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little intrigued. Job well done I suppose, that being the purpose of teasers.

PS. Argle bargle whitewashing rhubarb rhubarb Johansson etc etc.

Ah, I don't know. I feel like I'm watching dailies. Apart from the geisha character I don't think there's much that's enticing here. All it's telling me is that everything that isn't a close-up is going to be a slow dolly in or out.

It's going to take a lot more for me to get excited about the new film from the director of Snow White and the Huntsman.

...did the Buddhist monks from Blade Runner make their way into another cyberpunk movie?

(Yes, that's one of the first thoughts that entered my mind when watching this, go figure.)

Edit: Oh, and I guess "whitewashing, Black Widow movie is needed, Scarlet Johansen can't act, blah blah blah..."

Hard to call from just that.

Out of curiosity I looked up the movie heads and honestly none of them seem to have all that much which stands out. The director has one mediocre movie under his belt, but that's also the extent of it so whether that was just a fumbling first try or an indication of things to come is impossible to tell. Same story with the writers, who have one or two movies in their resume but not nearly enough to give any definitive good/bad answer.

As I understand it the movie is even based more on the show (which I haven't seen) than the past Ghost in the Shell movie (which I very much enjoyed) which makes it even harder of a read for me. Visually at least it looks neat.

It's looking like it may hit the right notes visually. Until we get a proper trailer I can't say much more than that.

Looks like just another 12432354234523453245# dystopian sci-fi flick. Watching GitS, both the films and series - it wasn't a dystopian future. People still have lives, people still had a relatively good living standards and people most certainty didn't gather around dingy damp cellars wearing monk outfits.

The world was certainly more chaotic and more insecure socially and politically speaking.

Oh, and the guns? Did they get them from an antique shop?

Who is Aramaki shooting?
Major finding some kind of hive mind

Can't wait to see more.

The aesthetic reminds me alot of Fifth Element. Only with low lighting and muted color. Maybe it's just the old dude's weird hair.

On reflection, that was my main issue too. GitS feels like a natural progression, not post techno-cataclysm. This seemed to have an almost Geiger angle to its aesthetic.

Even in SAC, Section 9 and the other people still use mostly realistic weapons or slightly futuristic versions of weapons. They usually only pull out the high-tech SEBURO weapons for certain missions. Hell, the Major and Batou both use a P90 and MP5s a lot.

Did they have to spam us with the Ghost in the Shell logo every 5 seconds in between clips? That felt really unnecessary.

Looks interesting, and apparently they are going down the route of the main character being sexually fluid with her lovers. That scene with the woman at the end definitely had some sexual undertones to it. Beyond that, eh, she doesn't know how to hold a gun in that one tracking shot of her walking down the hall. Her arms looked really out of place and awkward holding the gun in front of her. Other than that, it was pretty light on...well...everything.

Like no they don't. I've only seen major with a non-standard issue weapon like one or twice.
