I was looking forward to the new AvP aswell because in the old days it was honestly one of my favourite multiplayer experiences. It was just delicious. I had to stop someone from telling me about how it is unlike the old ones after 5 mins and he said he wasn't close to done.

I got the rocki-it-launcher in fallout 3 and got dissapointed... allot :(
The lack of firepower made it a horrible weapon to use and it was not worth a single cap that i had spent.

Imo, I really missed the instant hit of the Sniper Rifle when I unlocked the Huntsman, it took away a large part of the Sniper's appeal to me.
This. I tried the huntsman at a friends house and got several kills almost instantly.

It broke any sense of danger and vunerability since you can one-shot anyone with a flick of the arrow.

Also. The LAW from killing floor.

I always thought it did more damage if you fired heavier objects.

The Harbinger a.k.a The Sword in the Stone in Fable. The only way to get it is by maxing out your strength stats but by the time you do that you have several weapons more powerful than it already
It isn't so bad once you consider it's one handed. You can stab people pretty fast with that thing.

The Grinder in Red Faction Guerrilla...
I mean, picking it up online is awesome, because of the wide discs and range.
But in single player, I unlocked and upgraded it.
Sure, the discs exploded and could take a gaurd down in one hit, but that's just it.
You could only shoot them one by one, and by the time you take down half of the army sized force sent after you, you ran out of discs...
Always go RPG and Shotgun...

Actually I think it's decent. Considering that with the flame-thrower nerf you NEED it to kill anyone!. (Seriously valve, WTF?)

Pokémon Heartgold.

It's not the game, really. I just don't seem to get into it so I rarely play it :/

Basically, this is what happened to me with the new Turok. I had such find memories of the N64 games, but this travesty is the reason why (in 95% of the cases) I now rent games before I consider buying them.

Hearts of Iron III. Had been looking forward to it for over a year before its release. I got it and played it for maybe 5 hours, which consisted of me desperately trying to make it work or find something in it that could justify me playing it.

Biggest dissapointment for me in games in 2009, by far. :(

Love how many people misread the title and didn't bother to read the OP.

Anywho.

The Tiger Tank in Company of heroes. When I first got it I was all like, aww, man this is awesome! Then it got blown to shit by a group of devious engineers.

I would say army of two, but it´s not the weapons that aren´t good, it´s just that the best weapon in the game is one of the cheapest, and that´s the ak47, once you have it fully uppgraded (appart from silly things like the silencer) you can make your way through the whole game with no problems, i mean, i didnt even buy the minigun cause the ak was so awesome + there where no uppgrades(or very few) for the bigger weapons like the PKM or RPG.

Yeah, but it wasn't worth it when all other ammo is weightless.

In single player, the best weapon is the hammer. FOR IT IS THE WEAPON OF A NORSE GOD. Everything else either sucks or runs out of ammo too quickly.

Final Fantasy XIII. I'm a FF fanboy, I am. I starved myself for a week to be able to afford this game, and when I saw what it was... I died a little inside.

Thirteen is just an unlucky number, I guess
Although he was asking about in-game weapons, I do agree. I played the game as far as the point where everyone says it finally gets good, and completely lost interest.

OT: The Armageddon Blade in Darksiders. Ultimate Weapon in FF7. And the Master Sword in any Zelda Game.

I was so disappointed with Fallout 3 that it wasn't even funny. I didn't get around to beating it until 6 months after I bought it.

And it's not because I'd played the originals and liked them more. Because I hadn't played them.
