Whoever the main character is in Portal from The Orange Box 360 version... portal gun equals never getting cornered and over run. That is pretty hard to pass on. The fun traps you can set like portal on the wall of a sky scrapper at the very top and then open the second portal under a hoard of zombies that are trying to tear down the wall of that building so that there would be a waterfall of zombies being used to crush zombies on the ground... those kind of scenarios are just icing on the cake.

I don't know, I think Chell would be useless in a zombie apocalypse. The Device has a limited range of what it can work on, so far it seems only non-reflective surfaces can hold a portal. This means all glass, metal and plastics are out. Not sure what paint can do, but I assume high gloss would also deflect portals.

You'd be better off with a turret.

In a zombie apocalypse I imagine high gloss is going to be a rare thing to come across. So that sky scrapper scenario might not work depending on the guns limitations, but the portal gun is still the best get out of jail free card I have seen that I could use. I guess picking Nightcrawler from an X-men game and holding his tail would be pretty close, but not as cool. Actually having Nightcrawler does open up a lot of options the gun would not be able to handle as well. Such has creating a nice habitual cave dwelling then collapse the entrance so zombies could not possibly get in, and things like that would be nice to have.

Okay. Lemme break it down. First up?

Sephiroth IF I had some form of control over him that he wouldn't or couldn't break. Who needs guns when you have a six-foot long sword and godmode turned on?

Kratos IF he wouldn't go ballistic and kill everyone on my team (including me!). He has chain swords, a vicious streak a mile wide, and makes for great entertainment when you set him loose.

And, of course....a female character to round it all off....Orihime Inoue. Technically she's in video games, and she essentially can reject reality. Zombie bite? Only until she busts out the healing. Car wrecked? Not for long! Gun out of bullets? Hah, you wish.

Negating those former two ifs, my backups would be...

Kelly-087. She's not bad looking if you need to jumpstart the human race, and she's -stupidly- fast. Bait and superspeed arse beatings, coming right up!

Aaaand...I'd have to say....Dante from DMC. He's got style, an arsenal of demonic weapons, and occasionally, very large guns.
