Can you tell the difference between an Assault Rifle and a Sub-Machine gun thanks to Modern Warfare? Did you learn what flanking was by playing StarCraft?

You can get a nice amount of trivia from playing videogames.

For example, I learned that the Spetsnaz exist from playing Modern Warfare 2 and what the difference between a rear wheel drive and front wheel drive by playing Forza Motorsport 2.

How about you?

Oddly enough, I learned all of this shit from my dad... I have a weird family.

Actually, I've learned a little bit of First Aid and Medical from games.

I make sure things are legit before I go sticking things in me, though, so don't worry.

I learned about how diseases and indeed micro-organisms and to a degree the process of bio recombination works from playing Dead Space.

EDIT: I also learned of the greatness of the Sangheili from playing Halo 2.

I learned that you can't regenerate health in real life.

Edit: From a shotgun blast to the face. Or from a chainsaw cutting through your chest.

Civilization 2 taught me as a young kid about the Wonders of the World and all different cultures. It's hard to pinpoint exactly how it benefited me, but I think it's responsible for at least some of my love of history.

Modern Warfare 2 has taught me that when shot, you will obviously form chunks of red candy on your eyeballs and you must wait behind cover for it to go away.

I pretty much learned everything I know about car tuning options from DiRT and Gran Turismo. Not like upgrades but like Gear Ratios and Brake Bias setups.

I learned a little about the gear ratios from Grand Turismo 3 A-spec. Then again I also learned a lot about war from Star Craft (god that sounds bad), and then there was Diablo which taught me about inventory and cash management (HA! FUCK YOU COLLEGE FINANCE CLASS! tear up your credit cards my ass . . .)

I learned that sticking your self with random needles will have nothing but positive effects, because of Fallout and Bioshock.

Dude, I learned so freaking much from the Resident Evil series. I feel like a dork.

Just today even, my girlfriend was talking about music boxes, and asked me if I knew what a music box plate looked like. Thank you Resident Evil: Code Veronica. :)

I always thought it was strawberry jam with chemicals that is released right on your face and that your in-game character had to eat it all in order to regain all of that lost health. /sarcasm

OT: People can be real dickheads under the veil of anonymity.

Same goes for drinking pills you find while looting people's houses.

I learned what Tango, ETA and other things stand for playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
I also learned most of the Radio Alphabet playing military shooters.

I learned that the Colt Single Action Army is the best handgun in the entire world.

...Seriously though. I learned that higher numbers are not necessarily a better thing from stumbling across the gear ratio options in some old Formula 1 racing game for the PC. Think it was called Indy Car Racing 2. It did take me awhile to figure out why my car's engine kept exploding.

I never touched the gear ratios in Gran Turismo 3 as a result. Probably never will in a real car, either.
