I'm on a classics binge right now.

Played through most of Fallout 1 a week ago, now I'm on Fallout 2. (High-resolution mod, Fallout 2 Restoration mod; to make it more palatable.)

Really enjoying it, and will probably move on to Fallout: Tactics.. buut.. a lot of releases are dropping at the start of October. Resident Evil 6, Dishonored & XCOM just to name a few.

Since GOG.com was offering a neat little deal, I treat myself to possibly my all-time favorite game ever.

Not exactly retro, but I'm looking forward to my fifth or so replay of Fable: TLC.

I've been trying out a variety of old games recently, mostly because I'm currently gaming on a severe budget.

Ultima 4: Definitely still fun, but it hasn't aged all that well.

Planescape Torment: Has some of the best dialogue I've ever seen and the setting is awesome. The gameplay though... ehh. It definitely would've worked better turn-based.

ADOM: One of the best games I've ever played. Massive world, engaging quests, loads and loads of content; pretty much awesome in every way.

Nethack: God I wish I could like this game. It's clear why it's a classic, but it just hasn't aged well. The dungeons are repetitive and overly difficult to navigate. It's usually obvious where a secret door is located, but the search function takes so obnoxiously long to detect them that they might as well be dead ends. I have a feeling it gets better once you get to the Quest, but a game with permadeath shouldn't take very long to become enjoyable, considering the amount of times you'll be forced to redo the first ten or so levels.

Absolutely, given the turgid gaming that is available at the moment, surely a great 2000ad game could stir things up. Imagine Johny Alpha and Wulf Sturmhammer turning up for a case. How do you handle it, time bomb, number four cartridge or der happystick?
Personally I'd love a Slainé game. He'd be a perfect candidate for a God of War style hack n' slash or something along those lines you would think.
Yeah a Slaine game would be awesome, any game where you could have a warp spasm would be awesome come to think of it.

The first game i ever played, and Im happy to say its great for more than the nostalgia :D
If you want to show a youtube video all you have to do is put "youtube" into closed brackets make an equals sign and take the gibberish in the address bar, in this case it was RRtlWfi6jiM, and C+P it so it looks something like this "youtube=RRtlWfi6jiM", put it in brackets where the " are and voilà.
ANYWAY does GTA 4 count as an old game yet? If not I'm also playing through MGS2 and 3 because they're amazing and I'm a fanboy.
Thanks man

I was wondering about that...

Just finished a speedrun of Final Fantasy VII at 9:03. It's over an hour too long for any records, but still pretty good if I do say so myself. I think my very first playthrough was around 77 hours.

Another one I've been playing is Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain on PS2. It baffles me how Yuke's does annual releases now, and they still haven't managed to surpass a game from 2003. Even the graphics look the same!

For pure nostalgia: Ocarina of Time and Warcraft II

For best RTS of all time: Starcraft: Broodwar.

But I'll pull out old DOS games on occasion.

I recently started playing Alien Breed: Tower Assault again, after finishing the Evolution Trilogy, brings back memories.
I've got that on the Amiga CD-32, awesome game.

At the moment, I'm playing a game from my childhood, Jet Force Gemini. It's so, so good.

I've also just picked up Skies of Arcadia, and I'm looking forward to playing that next.
Grew up with an Amiga 500, it no longer works, so emulator is the only way.

Although I haven't actually played it before, I'm playing through Thief II: the Metal Age and am loving it. The variety of ways that is presented in approaching each level makes the game extremely refreshing.

I've been thinking of going through a few of my PS2 titles but I've constantly been held back due to a faulty wire (which shuts off the console if I so much as look at it funny) and a dodgy controller (large, bulky and kind of unresponsive). Huge shame because there's so many games that I want to revisit there!

I guess for old games that I can actually play, my sister has recently acquired a copy of this:

Which I have swiftly stolen so that I may play it for myself. It seems kind of complicated, but I've only been at it for a few hours and it's my first go at an RTS game so it's all just baby steps.

The original Sims. I remember having a lot of fun with this back in the day, and it's still pretty fun now. Fortunately, the loading times are a lot shorter now haha

I am ashamed to say that I spilled curry on my 360 afew years ago and have not had a current gen console since, I was fairly content until recently when my gaming laptop packed in and left me with no other option but to borrow other people's computers when to surf the web and such.

At any rate Ive more or less been exclusivly been playing on the playstation and ps2 for a while now and have been playing through every FF I own. I can proudly say that I have made it up to X-2 and will be moving on to XII in the near future, then I will likely start again with VI.

Currently working on Final Fantasy VI (Advance). Still one of the greatest games ever made.
