[b/]What is the oldest game(s) that you still play on a regular basis?[/b]

I have a friend who doesn't play anything older than Halo 2 and we were chatting about why this is. He mainly put it down to graphics, especially in the case of last gen consoles, which I was shocked by. My most recently played (older) games are FFVII on my PSX and Zelda OoT.

This may not apply to the PC as much. Dunno as I only play older games on the PC. (Medieval 2 Total War, Longest Journey etc).

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Or really any of those classic SNES games
Either this or starcraft, was a link to the past made in 1998 or earlier?

I still play Sonic 2 quite often. I just love the music more than anything, also Mega Man 2 for the same reason.

I replay the Monkey Island series about every year, that's about it for really old games though.

Don't really play them "regularly" but have revisited at least on a yearly basis: Star Control 2 and C&C Red Alert. Just for when the boredom strikes and I'm feeling nostalgic. I also have the entire King's Quest Series that I wish I could get to work on my shit. I fail.

Diablo II and Total Annihilation. 13 years and TA is still one of the best RTS games I've ever played.

I always want to but my copy of the first monkey island was one of those with about 13 freaking discs.

That game is on my laptop right now, I love it so much.

It made me so happy beating it way back in... was it 93? 94?

I play all the Zelda's every so often.

Aside from that I've been playing a lot of old stuff on Virtual console. Graphics don't bother me.

I collect older games, and always playtest them a bit before adding them to the collection, and failing games due to shock damage to the carts has become somewhat prevalent, as in I have run into a few that would not load, no matter how much I cleaned the contacts. I even keep an older 25" samsung tube TV as the games start to look fairly bad on a larger screen, or anything with a higher resolution then the old standard.

Quite often I will continue to play an NES or master system game long after I have checked that it is working.

I am fairly sad that the newest powerpad I got does not work. I also several light guns that don't work, the rest of the controllers for the older systems seemed to hold up fairly well.

Pong.

No, really. I built a pong console from a twenty-dollar kit [http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/science/8546/]. Plug it in to the TV and bip to your heart's content.

The Neverhood, I was five when my dad brought it home from a business trip only to realise it had an age rating of 18 simply because of the difficulty of the singular and game spanning puzzles it contained!

I was fourteen before I had completed it so I guess its probably the game ive played the longest by far. Look it up, its a weird and completely fantastic claymation puzzle game with brilliant music and a wholly unique style. Been playing it for fifteen years and I never want to stop!
