Yeah, I suppose this needs some explanation. I have never played Myst before. My fater did, and it looked very interesting to me at the time. For a while, I had forgotten my fascination with the game. Now, I remember it and I'm trying to get Myst to work on my Vista-using computer. No dice.

Has anyone else experienced this annoyance?

[sub]Also, if anyone knows how to make Myst work on Vista, be sure to let me know, okay?[/sub]

DOSbox = Command and Conquer, Master of Orion, Master of Magic, Syndicate, and others.

...So no, I can run all my favorite old games.

A really old Star Wars game which went through the first movie (and for some unexplainable reason, Hoth)

It was literally the first game I played, needed a joystick for the controls and everything. The newest computer it would run on was a Windows 97. Anything newer and it just wouldn't play. I got very sad when we had to get rid of the 97, but I was only using it for playing this game.

I don't have any problems really, and I run vista. I've been playing Starcraft recently and no problems other than some insane damage it did to my display drivers when I didn't run it under 256 colors.

I have the Warhammer Universe strategy collection and the only one that works is Chaos Gate. I'd like to try the other 3 on there especially Final Liberation.

Creatures 2. I bloody loved that game, sadly Vista hates it.
I tried to play 3 to maybe get a fix, but I had no idea what the frak was going on. Where are the damn easy to use toolbars!?

There were two editions released in 2000, the Myst Masterpiece Edition, and realMyst. The first was exactly like the original only with improved colour schemes, and the second was the same but free roaming and with graphical improvements. Both should work on Vista I think.

Google Game name + run with (your Operating system) there's usually a lengthy forums discussion in some hardcore pc forum about it. Not the most user convienient method but it usually works.

Also DOSbox as mentioned, it's a very handy bit of kit but read up on the instructions first.

Xcom: UFO defence barely runs on my xp system, and Red Alert (1) doesn't, I could run RA in dosbox but the dos version looks like crap compared to the windows version (and that version was designed for windows 95!)

X-com is such a great game I wish I could play it now that I am older. Instead people just keep producing RTS instead. The turn based combat is so much more fun to me.
