[sub]Also, if anyone knows how to make Myst work on Vista, be sure to let me know, okay?[/sub]
Maybe try the newest games of myst. Myst V: End of Ages was made in 2005, so i think it should run perfectly on Vista.
Myst IV: Revelation is my personal favorite (but i have played only the demo of it :D, made in 2004, why shouldn't that run on Vista? As much as i love those games, i still hate them for being so damn ''puzzly''. Most of the puzzles don't make sense, like giving you 6 levers and you have to figure out in what order you have to pull them, that's a dick move, not a puzzle.

I would like to play ''I have no mouth and i must scream''. It looks fun, i got it from a friends friends friend, but i can't run it. I tried to use DOSbox, but i don't know anything about it. How does it work? What should i do? Why it's not working? But that doesn't matter, because the game isn't supporting my video card.

well I finally got War of the Ring to work on Vista (it wasn't able to save) by running it in compatibility mode. I got Worms 4 running on Vista but the cutscene movies were flipped and mirrore.

Ah, I just got Thief: The Dark Project to work. Great game.
It wouldn't install at first, but I used this bit of instructions and it worked. It supposedly works on Thief 2: The Metal Age, System Shock 2, and Grim Fandango.

I have Myst, it works, but it's just not my type of game.

I need to try DosBox so I can play Quake again... I love that game.

Stupid Baldurs Gate 2 won't work on my mac ;___;
you can run games on macs?
Yes, most games can run on mac if you use some kind of program, but Baldurs Gate 2 was released for the Mac, and it still won't work :( I think I bought a bad copy of it or something.

KotOR I/II.

Tried installing both.
Disaster occurred.
This. Vista really doesn't like them which is a shame since the only other time I played them was on the xbox.
Say wha...? My Vista runs both with no trouble at all.

OT : None actually. I own some very, very old games. None of your Fallout rubbish, excellent oldie that it is.

Hugo's House of Horrors. Look it up. It runs on my computer like a dream, and it must be my oldest game in the collection.
Assuming I'm not thinking of something else, I loved those old Hugo games. 5 or 6 of them wasn't there?

Anyway, I'm wanting to play Beneath a Steel Sky but I'd assume dosbox would have my back.

The old Wing Commander is tricky to get running on my computer. Takes a lot of work getting DosBox to work with it, but is totally worth the effort.

Splinter Cell and KOTORs don't work on Vista. Anybody know if they work on Windows 7?

Whoever was in charge of the back compatibility on Vista needs to be shot.
What Splinter Cell? I have problems with the first one in Vista 64 but Chaos Theory works if you crack the DRM. Seems Starforce never bothered to update that pos malware.
Pandora Tomorrow is the one I'd like.

Can I ask for some advice on getting Dosbox to work? If I have an old game installed on C:/Oldgame for example, what are the commands that I have to use to run it from Dosbox? Tried the mount command but, uh, it doesn't seem to do anything and it starts me on Z:/ (which I don't even have).

Diablo and Diablo II, respectively.

I've been told that D2 can work on Vista (Blizzard's patched it up and everything), and it does indeed not crash, but it's always been horrifically buggy to the point where I simply couldn't play.

Diablo, though? Fat chance in hell.
Both work perfectly on my 64 bit vista...

In cases like this, I go to properties, compatability and turn it to a previous Windows version (I have never used Vista, so I don't know how that works, but it usually works for XP), then play away.. if it doesn't work, I say "Screw this" : <

My widescreen is now toppling all of my old games. No f*cking troubles with Vista are there, but ooooooooooooh no no no, try and force an unsupported resolution and you might as well take a shit and then eat it again. I.e. it's pointless putting in the effort.

The Sands of Time won't run outside of Safe Mode, and 800x600 looks ridiculous on a 1360x768 native res.

KotOR 1 won't work without having my character's arse take up half the screen, and when I try UniWS (the ONLY f*cking resolution patcher I can find on the net) it doesn't work, because of something to do with the interface that the patch doesn't then support.

KotOR 2 has a cyclic error on one of the discs so I can't install it. Having said that, playing it again would only make me yearn even more to play the wholly superior original.

I dare not try my beloved Mafia, because I know my heart shall rip in two.

So yeah, it's wiping out a good portion of my top 10 list. I fear they shall remain but simple memories. Such beautiful memories.

I've got to go, I think I have something in my eye...

Arghhhh, but that doesn't fix the problem with Thief: The Dark Project save games.
Thief 2 was one of my favourite games and I was really looking forwards to playing Thief 3: The Dark Project when I got my new computer in 2007. But somehow, Thief3 is hardwired so that the save game system cannot work with Vista. Saved games just continually get rewiped or something every time you exit.

That's probably the only one I've had so far.
