The Myst games have a very particular appeal. If you want puzzles(sometimes really obtuse) in a shared world and a fairly relaxed atmosphere, it's the game for you. If you want a lot of context for what you're seeing/the puzzles you're solving, it's not really what you're looking for. The books give backstory and context to the characters but not much of that actually makes it over the games(and if you have to go somewhere else to understand the context, you didn't do a good job).lacktheknack said:Schizm: Mysterious Journey isn't totally great, but it's a technical marvel that I think is worth playing. AVOID THE SEQUEL.
Also, Myst. Play Myst. Do it.
And I say that as someone who played the first 3 games(I liked the third one the most) and read a couple of the books.
