Still play PS2 games once in a while: MGS3, Final Fantasy XII, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, the Prince of Persia trilogy.

And some older PC games are still quite enjoyable: Rome: Total War, Homeworld, Half-Life, Max Payne, the older GTA games, Freelancer, Knights of the Old Republic.

Also:
Some people have a weird notion of old, around here... :O

I love how six months is "old" now.

I'm still busting out Transport Tycoon on a regular basis. I spent last night reinstalling all my Need For Speeds back to Underground 1, Warcraft III, and the original Neverwinter Nights (stupid installer, but XP Mode on 7 Ultimate was enough to trick it). And one day I will finish Dune 2's Ordos campaign (skirmishing is great for unit fights but terrible against bases).

I've only started Bioshock relatively recently (I got it free when I pre-purchased Infinite) and I'm loving it. Also Red Dead Revolver, mostly for nostalgia, but it's pretty damn good as well.

Whoa whoa whoa, Prototype 2 is considered an "older game?" It's only been out for a year or so, hasn't it? Thanks for making me feel old, you dern kids.

Anyway, I pretty much only play "older" games now. I don't really follow new releases anymore, since the large collection of games I've amassed in my youth serves me well for game-related entertainment. Which games I choose to play all depends on the mood I'm in.

I've been playing Team Fortress 2 on a regular basis (once or twice a week) ever since it was first released back in 2007. Simply put, it's the best damn online multiplayer game I have ever played. When I have friends over we usually gravitate towards co-op friendly titles like Borderlands and Halo: CE, or any of the Super Smash Bros. games for competitive play. Sometimes I get a bee in my bonnet to take a trip down nostalgia lane and play the games I remember as a kid, including X-Wing, Tie Fighter, The Neverhood, Paper Mario, Donkey Kong Country, Red Baron and A-10: Tank Killer.

Once in a blue moon I'll get an insatiable urge for some open world RPG action. That's when I'll reinstall Morrowind for the upteenth time with a bunch of mods and roam Vvardenfell to cure my wanderlust. Then there are the moments where I wish to command armies to conquer my foes. Out comes RTS classics like Red Alert 2 and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Want to mess around with a lightsaber? Jedi Outcast. Vehicular destruction? Cel Damage. Corny yet awesome superhero schtick? Viewtiful Joe.

I can go on, but I think you get the idea. In short, I'm pretty content with what I have, so there isn't much of an urge anymore to play the hottest new game on the market.

I've been playing through Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne recently, which is about 10 years old. Doesn't feel it, though. I also regularly play Final Fantasy 7 and 9, which are 10-15 years old or so. Oh, and Dynasty Warriors 3. I love that game.

I still escape into Final Fantasy Tactics every now and then. I've also been playing N64 games for the first time. I missed Donky Kong (the yellow one) and played it for the first time today, actually, with three friends. Man, it's dated.

I quite often play Age of Mythology; that game is, hands down, my favourite strategy game of all time. Other RTSes out there might be more realistic, might have more depth and may be better constructed, but I've yet to play one where you can call upon your god to smite the enemy with meteors, earthquakes and tornadoes or have a small army of hydras chow down on enemy infantry.

I'll always find myself occasionally going back to play the Thief games, be it the official campaigns or the countless fan missions.

I am 2-3 levels from completeting Magic Carpet 2 (again after around 15 years), so I am playing that at the moment, then I will most likely play some Syndicate after that (the real Syndicate, not that shit EA still birthed).

I've been playing Tomb Raider.

No, not that one, the first one. The one from the 90s. Where Lara is made of about 20 polygons. The one with endless levers and block pushing and traps and puzzles. The one with the T-Rex.

Age of Empires 2, Heroes 3, and Deus Ex 1.

The never-dying classics, especially with mods (some of them are amazing, if you search moddb.com).

Metal Marines, Crusader No Remorse & No Regret, Beasts and Bumpkins, Frontier Elite II and Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels.

In particular I keep coming back to that last one.

More recent titles that still qualify, and that I regularly revisit: Baldur's Gate series, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, Suikoden I & II, Final Fantasy VII & VIII & XI.

Old lucasart games (Monkey Island 1&2,DotT) and Masters of Magic. Ah, good times. The first time i played MoM (1998-ish) the load time between turns was so long i could do my higschool math homework while waiting. Played it last year, and it still takes days to finish. GoG.com ftw!

Beasts and Bumpkins
How, where?
Give details, I am begging you!
Heheh, well...

It's a `Settlers` type of game from the DOS era. You have to build a village up, take care of your bumpkins, listen to them proposition each other in country accents:

"Oi dere 'ansome, fancy a bit'a nookie?"

And achieve certain milestones, accomplish certain map objectives...

It's brilliant, highly entertaining... *if* you can get it working.
It's a free download, found easily via google if you're willing to go through the hassle of compatibility troubleshooting.

Or, you can just catch a let's play on youtube.

So have I! I'm up to the Amala Temple, but I'm trying to get through the Third Kalpa of the Labyrinth at the moment. I forgot how good this game was, might be one of my favourites of all time.

I still play Rocket Knight Adventures regularly. Most of the older games I've been playing lately are games I didn't play at release, though, so they're not exactly games I "still" play. I've been playing a lot of NES Ninja Gaiden on my 3DS, for instance. It's fucking awesome.

I've gotten back into Age of Mythology/The Titans, despite being very dated by today's standards, it's the best 'Age of' game in my book. Also I cleared the Campaign on Might and Magic: The Art of Magic, 13 years after the game debuted.
