Whoa whoa whoa, Prototype 2 is considered an "older game?" It's only been out for a year or so, hasn't it? Thanks for making me feel old, you dern kids.
Anyway, I pretty much only play "older" games now. I don't really follow new releases anymore, since the large collection of games I've amassed in my youth serves me well for game-related entertainment. Which games I choose to play all depends on the mood I'm in.
I've been playing Team Fortress 2 on a regular basis (once or twice a week) ever since it was first released back in 2007. Simply put, it's the best damn online multiplayer game I have ever played. When I have friends over we usually gravitate towards co-op friendly titles like Borderlands and Halo: CE, or any of the Super Smash Bros. games for competitive play. Sometimes I get a bee in my bonnet to take a trip down nostalgia lane and play the games I remember as a kid, including X-Wing, Tie Fighter, The Neverhood, Paper Mario, Donkey Kong Country, Red Baron and A-10: Tank Killer.
Once in a blue moon I'll get an insatiable urge for some open world RPG action. That's when I'll reinstall Morrowind for the upteenth time with a bunch of mods and roam Vvardenfell to cure my wanderlust. Then there are the moments where I wish to command armies to conquer my foes. Out comes RTS classics like Red Alert 2 and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Want to mess around with a lightsaber? Jedi Outcast. Vehicular destruction? Cel Damage. Corny yet awesome superhero schtick? Viewtiful Joe.
I can go on, but I think you get the idea. In short, I'm pretty content with what I have, so there isn't much of an urge anymore to play the hottest new game on the market.
