I can believe that.
I can believe that so hard.

You don't in the US either, it's just a misinterpretation of the Good Samaritan Law, which prevents legal action being taken against you if you decide to help.

As for fun facts, John Candy was a Doctor Who fan.

I once heard that the reason for the whole left lane (world) right lane U.S. came from the Medieval period and Westward movement period respectively. In England, men walked on the left to avoid being one upped in a mugging. Since most people are right handed, travelers would walk on the left of the road so they could draw their sword and defend themselves face to face. For the U.S., the wagon train drivers would use whips for their oxen and, since they were right handed, would go on the right side of the road in order to have their whip hand avoid passing drivers. May be a bunch of myths but who knows?

Based on consumer complaints? Obviously a bunch of petty trolls.
I wouldn't be too sure about that... Valve has some pretty abysmal customer support some days...

In Alberta, Canada, it's lawful to keep a water trough in your front yard as long as you refill it every morning by 4:00.
You can also be exiled from Fort Calgary or Fort Edmonton for a calendar year, but you must be provided with a rifle, some ammunition, a blanket and a horse.

Or, it used to be on the books that way... I've heard it was repealed because someone was actually charged with a crime that could be punished that way, and insisted on that punishment.

I thought that was the same in most countries. If you are caught ignoring someone in distress in Aus and are caught you will be charged unless there was foreseeable danger to the viewer.
Nope, USA and UK have no such laws if you read it.

People "believe" we do but nowhere, in the UK, is there a law where you are legally obliged to help someone.

It's a dickish thing if you don't but you can't get arrested for it.

help, no, however failure to report a crime is a crime in the US. But is it failure to report a crime if you report yourself for not reporting another crime?

I always thought the great wall bit was just from space in general (e.g. low orbit)

And under some conditions a duck's quack won't echo (however that has more to do with the particular size/dimensions of the room and the way the quack travels, much the same as any other sound)

edit: oops, doublepost

Reason for Rating

BBB rating is based on 16 factors. Get the details about the factors considered.

Factors that lowered Valve Corporation's rating include:

Failure to respond to 30 complaints filed against business.

Consumer complaints primarily allege defective gaming software . Specifically, consumers indicate that the advertised system requirements met the gaming software is non-functional, they experience a delay or nonexistent customer support, advertised gaming features are unavailable or inoperable . Additionally they have problems purchasing games , an example is cards being declined when funds available, and accounts being disabled without reasoning or explanation. Business usually responds to consumer complaints by explaining company policies including their no refund policy , by resolving account discrepancies, and in some cases offering refunds.
No surprises here. The trend is, people love Valve until something goes wrong. Then they're all but useless, but then they're drowned out by Valve apologists because ZOMFG STEEEEEEEEEEEEAM!!!!!

We're in a post-service era. Valve is truly a progressive company.

The GWC isn't wide enough to actually be visible from space by the naked eye, either. Well, it can be, barely, from a really low orbit, in perfect conditions, but that means it's no different from MANY other manmade objects, defeating the purpose of the claim.

However, the moon one is also claimed. It's obviously even less true, but it exists as well. So he wasn't wrong to shoot it down.

Taken directly from the site:

"Factors that lowered Valve Corporation's rating include:

So...Valve gets an F for "not responding" to 30 complaints....out of tens of millions of users....over the course of several years. (most of which, upon further reading, were resolved, apparently) Yet, they list Comcast as a C+.

*queue slow clap* Good job BBB. :|

In the state of Pennsylvania, its illegal to sleep on top of your refrigerator outside.
I live in PA. And, I can tell you that that is only one out of many bat-**** crazy laws we have here.

A few highlights:
* A special cleaning ordinance bans housewives from hiding dirt and dust under a rug in a dwelling.
* You may not sing in the bathtub.
* All liquor stores must be run by the state.
* You may not catch a fish by any body part except the mouth.
* Dynamite is not to be used to catch fish.
* There is a ban on men becoming aroused in public.

And my favorite:
* Any motorist driving along a country road at night must stop every mile and send up a rocket signal, wait 10 minutes for the road to be cleared of livestock, and continue.

[edit] A quick run through the Better Business Bureau's site led me to find that they list Activision as an A+ rating. Take that as you will...

Eh, I'm not really surprised. They make great games and I've never had any problems with steam itself that I couldn't fix in a couple minutes, but their support is awful.

Phineas Gage was a railroad worker in the 1800's who worked as the guy who cleared the roads for the tracks. He basically made holes, put in gunpowder, put something over the gunpowder so as to not explode, and then pat it down, then proceeded to explode it from a safe distance. One day, he was distracted, and so he forgot to put the cover over the gunpowder before patting it down with the tube he used, making it explode, and thrusting the tube through his skull. After he came to, he walked home, called the doctor, who wrote "After the patient explained his situation, he excused himself and proceeded to vomit about a cupfull of brain. Shortly after, he excused himself again and vomited a second cupfull of brain". He led a relatively normal life, even if impaired. It's bizarre.
I remember reading about that guy. Hes basically what lead to the discovery of lobotomies.

So in other words, you are legally required to get a longbow and shoot with it... what are you waiting for!?
