9 for me - it feels like a breath of freeze OTT air for me in the shooter genre. And they have colours other than brown, grey, and grey-brown! Not tried multiplayer yet, but it might be the first console shooter I enjoy multiplayer-ing on (i.e. I prefer PC shooters for that sort of stuff).

7. now, i want to make clear, i fucking love this game! everything about it is just plain fun, and i only really have 3 criticisms, all 3 which can be solved by patches and DLC (never thought i'd see the day where i WANTED DLC)

1. lack of huge boss fights. the trailers seemed to show huge boss fights on a large scale. in reality we had 1 huge boss fight, and tons of mini-bosses. we didn't even have a chance to fight serrano at all, just push buttons along with a cutscene. that was a big disappointment, but if they released some extra levels with 1 or 2 big fights on, problem solved.

2. game length. personally, i found it to be kinda short. i mean it was great fun, but it just seemed to little of a good thing. more DLC or a sequel can solve this i guess, but anarchy mode and echo mode kinda helps, well it would do if it weren't for...

3. anarchy is broken. now i'm playing this on PS3, and after looking through the forums i can see i am not the only person with this issue. my connection is fine, i can play other online games, hell i can even play bulletstorm in anarchy mode, but only if i have a private match with my PSN friends. and a lot of my friends are PC gamers (my pc is too out of date to get bulletstorm on, otherwise i woulda considered it) so my friends list is limited as it is, and then i can't even join a random game!

so yeah, those are my 3 big criticisms of the game, and each of them loses 1 point. 7/10 for a game which deserves much more ^^

6.5/10

Although genuinely fun in parts, there are so many design decisions and bugs that spoil the experience. Not being able to jump? I can tolerate that, until the player gets based onto a static mesh and becomes trapped. The sniper rifle is incredibly fiddly and the most boring gun in the game is forced onto the primary slot. On that plant boss for some odd reason I was able to slide indefinitely. Whilst very useful, I can't imagine that was intended.

The plot takes itself far too seriously; its too dark and not funny enough. This is the game where I can shoot someone in the ass and be rewarded, why does the narrative not reflect this kind of humour? Yeah there's a funny joke here and there but the rest doesn't feel like it fits. Maybe I'm desensitised, but I didn't think the game was OTT enough.

Finally, although the skill shots are vast and varied, it can get repetitive: more often than not in the level there is always the environmental death that gives the most points. Even if the points rewarded degrade the amount is probably more than the +25 for headshots. And the partners get in the way and aren't too likeable or compelling.

Still, it was genuinely fun when bugs or the Gears of War design didn't get in the way. The set pieces are goddamn beauitful, like the gigantic wheel or controlling the mechagodzilla. Despite the Sniper's poor interpretation of the player's action, its a very satisfying weapon.

TL:DR A good, solid concept that was marred by some poor design decisions and a few bugs.

9.3/10. It's quickly turned into one of my favourite FPS games.
The humour is great (I actually had to pause the game to laugh at the "Kill your dicks" conversation), the action keeps on coming and never felt boring and I really loved the green resort planet of Stygia compared to the brown/grey cities I find in other FPS'.

It would be a perfect 11/10 if it had:

1- Better Boss Fights.
The giant Venus Maneater, whilst it was epicly huge, was too easy and the Hekaton and Serrano were a real anticlimax for the buildup they had to them. I know Serrano is a human, so would probably die pretty easily but I bet he has a Mech-suit lying around somewhere. Something over-the-top like Hitler from Wolfenstein 3D with Quadruple miniguns.

2- Longer Campaign
The game lasted around 10 hours, and that's when I was taking my time. I guess I was enjoying myself too much and the action was too much fun that I didn't want it to stop. Atleast the ending leaves an easy opening towards a sequel.

3- Less Glitches.
This may be just me, but I found the game to be pretty glitchy when I played it. I slided inside the Giant Maneater, The Screamer was being held the same way as the PMC (complete with the whole gun being lengthened), the PMC's model ended up appearing above Grayson's head, there were some sound issues on Serrano's dropship and there was no speech appearing in Echoes mode. All of the glitches ended up being resolved by restarting from my last checkpoint, but it still was annoying that I had to.

4- Better servers for Anarchy mode!
The servers are really bad for Anarchy mode. It makes it really hard to find a game, let alone play it. My connection is great, I can easily play online matches on Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Dead Rising 2. Looking at the back of the box I'm seeing that the servers are powered by Gamespy, which probably explains it.

What console are you playing it on? Because I've only had two glitches so far (on the 360) When I ended up
locked out of the escape pod near the end, despite the fact that the door seemed to be ajar
and in the collapsed building echo, I sometimes ended up floating at a point near the end.

As for me, I rate it a 9.5. Original, badass, funny, and gorram pretty to boot. No pun intended...

The lifespan and an anarchy mode which can be damn near impossible to play with anyone but friends (not just due to poor matchmaking, but a general lack of co-operation which may or may not be a problem limited to the lone wolf leanings of xbox live members) are the only major problems here, and personally, as a high score chaser, echos mode greatly increases the lifespan.

I just started up the campaign mode, and I have to say: having a giant remote controlled robot dinosaur at your disposal in one of the stages is the coolest thing I've ever seen, ever. The only thing cooler than this would be if it was a giant robot crab. I wouldn't be surprised if you get access to a gun that shoots velociraptors later down the line! Probably not, though, because mankind has yet to recognize Yahtzee's genius as a weapons expert.

I'd say about 12837238947293487 shitzillion out of 10. And I'm only about 5 or 6 stages in.

Probably an 8 or 9. I finished it last night and was giggling pretty hard the whole way. It's refreshing to see a game not take itself seriously. I also didn't have any qualms with the length because I played it in 30 minutes - 1 hour chunks over a week or so. But such is the life of a parent.

If I had draw issue it would be with...

1-Not Fighting Serrano. Really? Come the fuck on.
2-The Art style. How sad. The game was so over the top entertaining but it was bogged down by one of the most generic at styles ever. The graphics were certainly pretty but it doesn't matter when they make shit pretty.

4. Probably because I beat Crysis 2 a day or two before starting it, so it seems so crap in comparison.
How'd you manage to beat a game that comes out on the 22nd of March?
it got leaked weeks ago.
Oh so you pirated it?
Indeed. and I'll be purchasing it in 17 days.
So Crysis 2 is pretty good, I take it. How does it compare to the first one?
Pre-note: I wasnt a fan of the first one.
The suit modes are a lot more streamlined this time, with Armor mode no longer being the default. Default mode has no special bonuses, other than your energy recharges in it. You can use the old "strength/power" abilities (power jump, power kick, ect) in any suit mode, but power kick drains 100% energy. The AI is far improved, with enemies flanking you, and tactical ability use. (for example, theres an enemy called the pinger, that will launch a grenade at you, then EMP right before it explodes to knock you out of armor mode if you're in range of its emp). Also, since it takes place in NYC, the visuals are a LOT brighter than Crysis 1. Theres a few pacing flaws however, for example, after a long stretch of ONLY fighting Ceph, you have to fight a bunch of normal human mooks for a chapter or 2, which have long been a joke. Also, when you get the gauss rifle, you lose it 5-10 minutes later -_-
How longs the campaign

8.5

To put that into a proper setting, rather than let people assume that's a video game reviewer's 8.5, Halo:CE was an 8, halo 2 was a 6, and halo 3 was a 4.

There's plenty of room for it to expand on the whole skillshots idea, and ammo should probably cost a little less. I understand why ammo costs what it does, but that's done for the sake of story rather than the sake of fun. I know it's the wrong way to go about it, but I always end up thinking about if I can make enough points to offset the ammo costs and a lot of the time I can't so I just kick more dudes into spikes or off cliffs or into electricity or cactus.

Full out 10, I love it, I'm so glad that they finally made a no real story, gory, over-the-top violent, videogame.

I would have given it a 9, but I finished it in only 6 hours so I'll lower that to a 7. Should have bought an RPG in stead, but it was still fun while it lasted. Will have to try the MP when my PS3 finishes its update.

An 11. I've seriously had more fun with this than I had with Vanquish and I loved Vanquish. I like the kinds of games that reward you for doing awesome things, and Bulletstorm is basically a playground for doing ridiculous stuff and then it gives you a big high five for doing it. And then there's the surprisingly good story. With a game like this, you would think they'd just say "go here and kill everything" but while that's certainly there, it's a lot deeper than I expected. The writing is also some of the best and the acting done really well. Definitely worth what I paid for it and its going to be a strong runner for game of the year. For me, at least.

It's kind of an 11 for me... it's so loud, brash, OTT and funny that Nigel Tufnel's amp is the only thing that I can compare it to.
Thanks for reminding me to re-watch Spinal Tap. Haven't seen it in ages...

OT: Hmm. Potentially? Yeah, 11. Currently, about 7.
Frankly I'm dissapointed. It was sooo awesome for the first four acts, but now I seem to be running out of skillshots. The ones I haven't done are either uninteresting to me, too damn complex (Like, I've done them, but it registered as something else.), or I've already done it and thus will only get, like, 25-50 points. Which is a total cuntsack, because those ones are usually pretty fun to do. But there's little point doing them, because I won't be able to buy more ammo/charges/upgrades.

I'm also annoyed at the 'Pricked/Voodoo Doll' skillshot. Kicking guys into spikes/cacti alwasy gives 100 points, but feels too easy, simple, and boring to do. Whereas the fun stuff, like shotgunning a guy in half or shooting a guy in the nuts then kicking his face off, gets half that amount of points.

For a game based around the skillshot system, I was expecting, well, more skillshots than about 10 per gun.

I've got bored of it for now and am doing Black Ops, but I'll probably get back into it.

Solid 9. Completely awesome and original, not too short and it doesn't drag out, but not perfect.

Admitting to piracy or using emulators/ROMs is extremely frowned upon here. Probation material.
