Hello Escapist. As of a few minutes ago, my Birthday is officially over. I now have two questions for you.

#1- Did you wait until legal drinking age before having your first alcoholic beverage?

and

#2- What was your first drink?

Myself? Well, yes for the first question. I've waited until my 19th birthday before going drinking bitches.

As for my first drink? I haven't had one yet. My university friends and I are planning to go drinking tomorrow night and I plan to try Whiskey on the rocks first. I hear that is a classy drink for a gentleman to drink.

Lager. Not my favourite. Later I had Cider and Vodka, both of which are currently my favourites.

Anyway, your respective turns.

Edit: Finally related my first on this thread. I'll put it here so people can see it.

So, I had my first drink. I started with Lager, didn't really enjoy it. Moved to Cider which was really good. Later on in the night we left my friends apartment and went to a pub. Had a shot of Vodka. Nice, it tasted great and felt great. Tried Whisky next, it was good too. Tried a glass of Cognac that tasted horrible.

Had some beer, didn't puke all night and ate some subs before going to bed. I drank more water than alcohol and woke up without a headache or nausea. It was a great experience, one that I want to do again with my friends sometime. I can hold my liquor but I'm not a frequent drinker. Since that weekend I've only drank once.

So yeah, that is the conclusion of my first encounter with drinking. It was fun and I can remember what happened too.

#1. I've had sips of things, but I haven't liked anything, so I've never had a proper beverage (also, I'm not of age yet, so it really depends on if you count sips as drinks)
#2. some form of wine

Not quite 21 yet, I might have a beer then but these sort of milestone events kind of fly past me without too much fuss.
And whether early or late, happy birthday!

My first drink was vodka at about 14-15. I stopped drinking at all after my 21st birthday.
So yeah, stereotypical russki :)

P.S. Happy birthday!

I've been drinking since I was 12... I think it was a glass of Moet & Chandon. Or a plain old beer.

Well my dad's a heavy drinker, guess I picked up something from him.

Happy [sup]late[/sup] Birthday!!!

OT, I'm 17 and I had my first drink at.... 9 or something. I sneaked a bit of my dad's beer or whatever the hell he was drinking.

I tasted awful and since then, I've never wanted to drink and I refrain from doing so.

1. Not even close (I was 16 and it's 21 in the States)

2. Smirnoff Rasberry Vodka, warm, straight - hey, we stole the stuff we didn't choose it

Whiskey on the rocks is a good choice, just make sure to order Jack or Red Label or Black Label or whatever - there are lots of kinds of whiskey (whisky) and some are good straight and some are better mixed. Also, DO NOT MIX YOUR FAVORITE NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINK WITH ALCOHOL. I got a terrible taste aversion to Cherry Coke (formerly my favorite soda) by mixing it with vanilla vodka.

I was 17 when I had my first drink, which is pretty late compared to most other people I know. Even my parents and the majority of their generation drank earlier than that. It was alcoholic cider, and it was nice. Then some coke and bourbon. Hehe.

But you guys in the U.S. have it pretty fucked up. Drinking age of 21? Hahaha, have fun with that. (drinking age here in Australia is 18 incase you didn't know)

Happy Birthday
#1: Yes
#2: I don't remember
If you're going to drink whiskey on the rocks, I'd suggest mixing cola into it.

I had my first drink at 14, maybe 15. Legal drinking age in the Canadian province of Ontario is 19. It was a can of Molson Canadian beer. I used to love the stuff but now I hate it; I much prefer wine.

Ha, 21....
I can drink in a month (18) if I cared at all for alcohol.

Nope. I was about 16 or so when I had my first actual drink that wasn't a sip of the 'rents beer or wine.

'twas Vodka that I tried that time. A couple shots of nice and cold straight Vodka. I then followed that up a week later when I had my first real drinking session at a party and drank almost a whole bottle of vodka myself. Let's just say that drinking that much the very first time you actually drink at a party isn't a good idea >.>

Duly noted. I want to have fun, I don't want to feel miserable.

Well, No. I had my first drinking session when I was 16 (about a year ago). My parents were gone, and I decided to see how much booze I could hold. It wasn't much, and school the next day was terrible.

I had some Southern Comfort Bourbon, and it remains my favorite drink to this date.

It was fun. Loads of fun, actually. At least, the parts of the night that I remember were fun. I'm not sure about the rest of the night that I don't remember, but I assume I was having fun then too.
What wasn't fun was waking up and finding out that I'd thrown up all over my shirt after sculling down the last quarter of the bottle of vodka because I was wasted and thought it was a good idea at the time.

As for you going drinking, have a try of a few different drinks to find out what you like. There's no point getting wasted on something you hate the taste of, otherwise you end up waking up the next morning with a severely nasty aftertaste in your mouth.

#1 No I didn't wait. I'm still not 21 yet.
#2 My first drink was about a week before my 14th birthday. My friend has a birthday around a week before mine and my other friend has one a day before mine. So as a general celebration we drink on one of the 3 days as well as halloween. Any other time is just when we have the money and the means too.

No I did not wait, my first drink is still my favourite today. Spiced rum and Dr. Pepper. Utterly delicious.
