I'm not 19 for a few months but I started drinking when I was 15. My personal favorite drink is good ol' Rum n' Coke.

1. Nope. Was out drinking WAY before than. Also brewed my own beer to take to parties. Australian drinking culture I guess. (Victorian drinking age is 18, and I turned 18 2 weeks ago)

2. Well, when I was 2 I took a sip of red wine and threw up - if that counts. Other than that, I usually had beer mixed with lemonade as a kid on special occasions. Im the local alcoholic alcohol enthusiast. Now that I have my probationary drivers licence my drinking days are over for a few years.

1. HaHA, no.

2. Some good old whiskey. Did you know that if you take just a sip of say, Sprite, after drinking pretty much any amount of whiskey, the kick/burn disappears completely? Thereby making it perfectly possible to chug hard liquor? Did you also know that this is a very bad idea, especially if it's your first time drinking, because you may end up in a car being driven by your drunk brother with a meth-head you've never met in the back seat, your mind dominated by the realization that THIS IS EXACTLY HOW MORONS YOUR AGE GET THEMSELVES KILLED, while attempting to make your final peace with universe should the worst come to pass?

Seriously, it's all true, even the part about the meth-head. I just don't trust the guys my friends get booze from. I mean, what kind of asshole spends his time getting minors beer, only to drink it with them? Don't they have friends their own age? I don't get it.

I'm usually the DD these days.

1) Technically, no. My parents actually gave me a Strawberry Daiquiri when I was 16, but I spat out the first taste that I took. At 20, I tried my first mixed drink (rum & coke), which I enjoyed. I'm not a big drinker, however, and rarely drink anything with any alcohol in it. The exception, of course, being wine on occasion.

2) See above.

18, weekend before I left for college. Eight of my friends, who hadn't drank in earnest before, decided to get trashed to "find our limit". Well..I'm pretty sure I raped my limit in the ear and didn't even yell surprise. I nearly killed myself from alcohol poisoning as I have NEVER drank more than that in my 7 years of drinking since.

Started off with root beer float schnapps (First mistake) then had some coronas, then on to 5+ shots of vodka (second mistake) then some coolers. I then proceeded to vomit profusely all over my friend's washing machine and passed out on a bed covered in wooden dinner chairs. I had not had an ounce of water (Nail in coffin) to drink the entire night and I'm pretty sure I almost died. Took me two days to fully recover. Had a blast even so...but sooo not worth it.

I still can't stand being around vodka without my mouth getting that oh-god-I'm-gonna-throw-up splash of saliva.

1) Yes. I had one when I was about 6/7 but I don't count that as it was my dad giving me a sip off John Smith. So I class my first as some Thatchers Gold at 16.

2) Desperados with lime.

I think my first drink was Campari on the rocks. I was 15, we were in Italy and having dinner with one of my mom's business friends. He knew we weren't usually allowed to drink, much less in front our mother (who is in AA). We felt obligated to finish it out of politeness but it was awful. It was pretty clear that he enjoyed our suffering.

I really don't recommend Campari unless you're a bitter person looking for a drink to match your personality.

I had my first drink not too long ago on my 16th birthday. I broke part of my tooth and my uncle gave me a shot of Jameson and man was that sucker strong.

I don't really plan on drinking much when I get older because I have this weird fear of alcohol that I think the women of my family have passed onto me and my dad isn't really a drinker either. My brother on the other hand probably gets shit faced every weekend in college. So were both different.

Hey OP, I guess you're from BC or Ontario or something? Anyway, I'm also from BC.

1. Didn't wait till I was 19 to drink. I had friends who were two years older than me, so it was awesome going to grade 12 parties, getting drunk with older people and hooking up with older chicks when I was 16 and 17, and getting all this booze all the time. Made me more popular in my own grade, too. Once I actually turned 19 in the spring of 2009, I didn't even really care. The only thing I could do now was go to bars, which I do a fair amount of (whiskey on the rocks IS classy). But all the university dorm parties were over by the winter of 2008 so it didn't really matter to me.

2. I remember the first time I tried drinking (other than a few sips of dad's beer at dinner). Me and my 3 friends got a bunch of Mike's Hard Lemonade; we were 13 at the time. We went to a little playground by my house at night. We sat atop the castle and drank our ***** drinks in the rain.

I remember the thrill of it, the three of us sitting there.
"Dude I feel so weird!"
"I know, what's going on, I'm wOoOOAhaH I'm sO drUnK!" (even though we weren't)

Funny, if not good, times.

No I didn't wait until I reached drinking age before I had my first alcoholic beverage. I think my first drink was some piss poor beer my mother let me try when I was a kid, and I was disgusted by it. The first drink without parental supervision was a 40oz of malt liquor when I was 15, followed by Jack Daniels. I still can't stand Jack, it's a shit whiskey, it takes on par with Lord Calvert honestly, and it's far over priced. I usually take a vodka on the rocks, which I can thank my Russian heritage for.

If you want something that will really put hair on your chest, try some 190 proof everclear. Most distilled spirits are 80 to 100 proof, with Bacardi 151 tipping the scales at 75% alcohol. Everclear is 95% pure alcohol, is illegal in some states, and tastes like drinking burning chalk if taken straight. I've honestly never seen another liquor bottle with warnings that it is extremely flammable, and should never be consumed without mixing with a non-alcoholic drink.

Well I didnt really drink until I was 20 (the legal drinking age is 18). I'm not a big drinker so it is not something that I really cared about. Also Wiskey on the ricks is a bold first drink. I find it an acquired taste (also only a plebeian would dare ruin good Wiskey with ice). I'd go for a good beer or ale.

As for my first drink? I haven't had one yet. My university friends and I are planning to go drinking tomorrow night and I plan to try Whiskey on the rocks first. I hear that is a classy drink for a gentleman to drink.
It's probably been said already but if it's your first time drinking then take it easy, throwing booze down your throat when you don't yet know your limits is likely to result in a visit from the chunder fairy, which is never fun. In fact, once you get to the 'merry' stage (you'll know when that is) just stop until it starts to wear off, then have another drink to top it back up.

Anyway, answers;

1) Nope, had sips of parents drinks since I was very young, which probably took away the mystique od alcohol for me, which I'm very thankful for. As for first time I was drinking with friends/at parties...think I was about 14/15.

2) God only knows, I would imagine that it was something vodka based though, one of the few things I can drink comfortably.

1) Yeah I did, pretty much the only person I know who did though and considering the age is only 19 here...
2) Long Island Iced Tea, followed by various shots.

Can't stand beer, tastes like piss, so my personal collection of alcohol is stuff like spiced rum, whiskey, vodka. Y'know, the good stuff. To bad I hardly drink any of it.

I love being British, good ole 18 drinking age. But No I didn't wait until then because in Britain within a private residence you can drink from the age of 5 I think I had my first drink when I was about 10 (no I'm not a drunkard it was just a small amount of beer) I didnt properly drink anything until 16 when I got to sixthform

Can't remember when I had my first drink... was probably some wine.

In the UK, it's legal if your parents allow you it in your own home, or I think it's something like 16 with a meal, if you're with your parents. Drinking on your own, however you like, is at 18 though.

Dunno if I had a drink out of the house before I was 18 tho. I remember going to a party at around that age, and drinking - which surprised people as they thought that I would be teetotal (as I was well-behaved pretty much all the time). Made it a cheap night, as people bought me drinks because they didn't realise I drunk :p

I'm 16, and I've been drinking for a year or two now. I like it because it makes everything more fun :D

Oh, and I'm allowed to have alcohol with food or at home, as far as I know.
