Well I just want to point out that you don't need to drink and only do it if you really have some burning desire to do so.

#1 Im going have to say no. I have had sips of wine and was given a corona at a friend's house but as soon as I tried it I immediatly put it down cause it tasted disgusting. Which leads me to wonder how people can drink gallons of them.

#2 I would have to say the first proper drink given to me in my hand was the corona but before I had sipped some wine once or twice.

There is a benefit to being sober, If I ever go to a bar with friends and they decide to drink then I would be most likely be the one to walk away with a girl as I wouldn't be sluring my words.

I waited until I was 18 to drink (legal age here) and I was put off by drinking by stupid friends and my old man.

My first was Bourbon and coke, to this day it remains my favourite.

Hell no. I guess I was 14 when I actually drank, but about 11 when I first tasted something, probably beer/cider.

A quite typical Finn at that.

1) No I didn't wait, might as well learn what you like and your tolerance levels by the time you actually have to begin paying extortionate prices at pubs.
2) Vodka, i shit you not.

1)No, the first time I got drunk I was 15. I am neither ashamed nor proud of that, but it has done my tolerance wonders (it was initially quite shite).

2)I had various sips long before I first got drunk, so I suppose it was probably of Amstel Larger seeing as that is my parents' favourite drink.

1# No. I've had wine from family meals like Christmas when I was about 10.

2# My first PROPER drink was Stella Artois. It tasted awful but I thought this was the best I was going to get so I downed 2 bottles of it, some strongbow, then burned my throat by trying to down vodka.

to 1: more or less, it is legal to drink beer when you are 16, but I started drinking hard liquor quite heavily before I turned 18.

to 2: don't remember, beer I guess

Hello Escapist. As of a few minutes ago, my Birthday is officially over. I now have two questions for you.

#1- Did you wait until legal drinking age before having your first alcoholic beverage?

and

#2- What was your first drink?

Myself? Well, yes for the first question. I've waited until my 19th birthday before going drinking bitches.

As for my first drink? I haven't had one yet. My university friends and I are planning to go drinking tomorrow night and I plan to try Whiskey on the rocks first. I hear that is a classy drink for a gentleman to drink.

Anyway, your respective turns.
If you've never had a drink before, whiskey is guaranteed to end in tears!!

You will almost certainly think it tastes disgusting and if you stick with it, you will go at it too hard and puke everywhere.

Then you'll have your first hangover!

1. I did not. Legal age for mild alcohol drinks is 18, and I think 21 for liquors. The first time when I got properly drunk was when I was 13.

2. It was moonshine. Someone brewed a whole load of it in a forest. I had a 1,5l bottle of it, more than enough to keep a pre-teen busy. We played some kind of drinking game with some older kids. They had beer, me and my friend had moonshine. We didn't win.

My first drink was probably some sort of alcopop type beverage on New Year wen... 13-14?

When I actually stated drinking though, I'd say it was when I was 17, so only a year below drinking age (18, whoo). My first drink then would have been... Cornish Rattler Cider, or Magners Cider.

I do love my ciders

1) No I've been drinking since I was 14, I honestly believe I'm better off for it too.

2) It was vodka and Oasis, I spit it out the second I had a sip.

Also the whole concept of "putting hair on your chest" is laughable, you have issues if you need to drink to prove yourself to people. This is quite evident in the drinking culture here where anyone under the age of 16 tries to be cool and drink vodka straight and they end up ruining the night for themselves whereas the rest of us stick to beers etc. It's hilarious to see them, but you do think to yourself "Was I that bad at 16?". Anyway the moral of the story is it's not your drink that impresses someone, it's your character.

*sips White Russian*

EDIT: Oh and Happy Birthday OP!

No I was 13 the first time I drank. My first proper drink was the highly potent Irish drink, poitin, made from potatoes, because we can. It was a weak enough mix somewhere around 30% and I probably would of been ok if it wasn't mixed with gin and vodka.I cried about my dog and then spent the rest of the night getting sick. Wouldn't recommend it.

Drinking is great, if you know how to do it properly. I had my first drink at the age of sixteen, though I didn't finish it, because it was new years eve, the drink was champagne and it was vile. Now my staple drink is Bulmers, Druids, or any other good Irish cider. I'll also drink tequila, vodka, Bud, and Southern Comfort. The thing about drinking is that idiots who brag about getting locked every week are exactly that, idiots, but people who tell you that they'll never touch a drop because it'll ruin your life, are also idiots. Drinking on a night out is great, it gives you confidence and makes the whole night go smoothly, assuming you have the sense not to overdo it. I have drunk enough to make me properly merry plenty of times, but never once have I drunk enough to suffer a hangover the following morning, and thats how its done.

@crunchieman Poitin is never, ever a good idea. Nor is absinthe, but poitin is worse. There's a good reason its illegal.

Well i wont count the sip of champagne on New Years Eve so:
#1 Nope, we were 13, so 3 years before legal.
#2 We bought a case of beer, made a campfire under a railway bridge besides a river and had a fun night. For the harder stuff i guess it was Jaegermeister or probably something with vodka in it.
