First drink: Never. (at 16, in Australia, I SHOULD have gone out and gotten bombed to the point of no memory)

Renders point 1 redundant.

#1) No. I did however wait until I graduated from high school. This was made up for by the fact that I was in Baghdad, Iraq on my 21st birthday.

#2) The first legal drink I purchased was a vodka martini. I didn't care for it.

It's actually taken quite a long time for me to find a series of drinks that I really like. Shockingly, one of my stand-by drinks is the one I found most revolting the first time I tried it: the classic gin and tonic (lime juice saved the day!). I still, sadly, don't care for beer no matter the quality. I do, however, adore cider which makes a nice stand-in. I also do not care for the aged liquors I've decided, at least not by themselves. That most leaves cocktails and ciders that I enjoy.

Any bartender can make a gin and tonic. Only a few bartenders in the world can actually make a decent Long Island. Sadly, few bars carry cider of any stripe, but I'm always happy when I find one that has Woodchuck Amber on tap.

Here in New Zealand there is no legal drinking age. Only a legal purchase age of 18. Someone can drink legally at any age below 18 if the alcohol was supplied by their parent or legal guardian.

My first proper drink was most likely a glass of wine at around 13 with my parents. I had drunk wine and beer before that but only mouthfuls at a time on rare occasions.

Last drink was a couple of bottles of Monteith's Original Ale 4 hours ago.

First time I was drunk of vodka when I was 21 (far above the legal age in this country). I didn't like beer or wine and didn't see any purpose in smashing my brain to oblivion before that.

Beyond the "Ooooh, daddy, can I have a sip of beer, pwease?" that many do when growing up, I haven't touched alcohol since.

I'm 17 turning 18 next year, and I don't plan on drinking. But that's just me, I guess. I don't hold it against my friends or anyone when I'm at a aprty and everyone's drinking, it's their choice

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not a "OMG, IF YOU DRINK YOU'LL BECOME AN ALCOHOLIC AND DIE AND RUIN YOUR LIFE AND BLAHBLAHBLAH!!!" person. I just don't do it

I had my first drink the day before Thanksgiving last year. So, I was 22.

As for what it was; My dad took me to a bar and bought me a Budweiser. And then he bought me a lot more Budweisers. Then some shots. Turns out, I rock at darts when I'm drunk.

1. Not by a mile. I started drinking when I was 15, legal age here is 18. I've been a fairly heavy drinker since around then. Sorry liver.

2. Probably some of my dad's ciders ir ales or something. But as for when I started drinking properly, I'm guessing it was probably Sol, or Budweiser. Some kind of lager or light beer. I drank spirits too, but I've mostly given up on them because it's so hard to control how drunk you are with them.

1. Nope. My first alcoholic beverage was given to me at 8.

2. Boilermaker. Grossest liquid I have ever drank.

Wait until legal age before getting drunk but had beer before that. My first drink was rum and coke.

I plan to try Whiskey on the rocks first. I hear that is a classy drink for a gentleman to drink.

Anyway, your respective turns.
Good luck with that. As a Whiskey drinker myself let me give you some advice. Be ready for the burn. Whiskey burns, if you get used to it you will come to love the flavour.

When you go in you're best off asking "Got any single malts" and having one of them for your first whiskey. Whiskey is made in a variety of ways and has different tastes accordingly.

Single malt, to me, is the smoothest. Not so much burn, great taste.
Blended has a lot more kick to it, and is cheaper (usually) than single malt.
There's a few others like pure malt and mixed but you don't normally come across them in pubs.

Also age is important, the older the smoother.

Although there are some good blends out there like Johnnie Walker you're still best getting a single malt.

Also if this is your first time drinking ever, have 1 or 2 and stop. You don't know your limits and getting utterly shitfaced when you're out and about for your first time is not fun.

Yes, that is a lot of information, I do it because I care.

OT:

Started drinking at 10ish, in my house, mildly of course.

First went out when I was 15, never been asked for ID once. First drink was Whiskey (surprise surprise)

In short, I have a high chance of liver damage and I like it.

1) hell no, I'm a year younger than most of my friends (I was youngest in the year at school) any they were going to pubs age 17 so of course I tagged along (aged 16).

2) First drink? no idea, probably wine. Away from my parents though i.e. in a pub or something like that it would of been lager, probably cheap Carling.

#1- Did you wait until legal drinking age before having your first alcoholic beverage?

and

#2- What was your first drink?
1. Well, I'm 16 currently, and I have tried alcohol. Usually only small sips to try its taste, except for one night where I tried so much different stuff, I don't even remember. All of them were mixtures, though.

2. Uhh...beer, probably?

And, in my opinion, the worst alcoholic drink I've ever tasted.

I've never drank alcohol and am a month away from 23.

The stuff just does not interest me at all. I'll stick to my water and Dr. Pepper. ^_^

I've been drinking since around 14, but I guess not in the sense you meant. I wasn't drunk till I turned 18. My parents brought me up that drinking isn't something to be shameful of, which I see a lot of in Canada. They're Swiss, though. They taught me how to drink correctly instead of shunning it.

1. I didn't wait 'til drinking age.

2. Just a glass of vodka. Brother wanted to build up my tolerance to alcohol early.

Where I lived, drinking was commonplace from about 15 onwards. I've never drank enough to become drunk because it tastes foul and I don't see what I gain, but I did try some at roundabout that time. So... no, I didn't wait til my birthday before drinking, and I can't remember what my first drink was.
