What really get me is why the idlers think they deserve the hats, considering how they clearly didn't earn them legit(ly?). And I've seemed to notice F**K VALVE!! In the server name, what's strange about this is they're showing hate for Valve but STILL like the game(s) they produced and STILL find it necessary to cheat in the game to get a now rusty trophy to put on the mantle that is falling apart, What the deal with that? And finally the re skinning of the Halo by idlers to make it a big old red FAG! sign, so let me get this straight, I play a game normally and now I'm a a*s hole and worthy of punishment myself such as not getting healed? Well for those particular people, get the fuck back to 1850's and while you're there stop being so g*d damn racist.

Now please, if there are any extremely pro idlers ( I understand that not every idler goes to that extreme) please try to explain the behavior for the points I made, not for a argument, I just seriously want to know why you do it.

Yeah the Halo looks stupid, but it's nice to finally have a hat, you know? I like how Valve made sure that when people are trying to cheat their game, they make sure those people get what they deserve. Which is a lack of the Halo.

The problem is hats can only be obtained through gameplay/idling

If unlocking achievements got you hats as well as weapons then this wouldn't matter.

Also I went into idle servers a couple of times cause me n a mate knew the servers would be AFK so we could get a couple of tricky achievements and now I don't get a Halo :( My own fault really

owell i like my Snipers standard hat anyways :D
Problem? The idea is that they're rare. If you saw them every game they went into, it would feel like MyFortress or something.

Think about the citizens in HL2. They have some funny comments like these:

"Sometimes...I dream about cheese."
"Oh my god, Freeman's dead!...Dibs on the suit."
"I don't miss Dr. Breen...but I do miss his show. Remember when he had the jugglers on?"

Thing is, not everyone hears them. They're heard pretty infrequently. I'm sure we all know of games where NPC's repeat a certain phrase over and over again to the point where you want to murder them (fighting games often a victim of this) Hats are the same way, and they're not meant to be earned in just one or two months of play.
Yea I get why they aren't built into achievements, all I'm saying is because they aren't thats why people idle
