LOL, what, like having to pay higher taxes to bail out the bankers who pay little or no taxes, and yet bankrupted our economy? ;)
Got a better plan?
Take the massive, ricidulous bonuses they gave themselves away and use that to, if not fully, then at least partially pay for the damage they caused.
So....you're advocating robbery?

I'm advocating that the proceeded of criminal negligence don't remind with them, so yeah, robbery. Or rather a special "Bankers Tax"

American English classes seem to fail, I like ours, we do Shakespeare, English and Irish Poets and read classic literature. Yes the Lord of the Flies count.

when i was in high school (im canadian, we dont seperate them into 2 schools) i read macbeth several times, romeo and juliet, and book reports were always in stephen king novels, but i'm old so we never had an ignorance issue, we could all read, since my departure from the public education system, things have gone... downhill... if children cant read: blame the parents: not the teachers: after all: most of the teachers can read.

My English classes are usually filled with stupid people, but my teacher is good. Now, I can read at break neck speeds. I finished "The Wave" by Todd Strasser (Around 100 pages) in my first period class. I finished a book thats taking our class 3 weeks to read. I don't understand how people can't read as fast as I do, or at least don't enjoy it.

Also, was saying Googleing supposed to be Ironic, or am I just a Grammar Nazi?

There's a lack of Lord of the Flies being mentioned here ;< Seriously, no one else studied that at GCSE (14/15 years of age) level?

In this case, pertaining to English.

I was googleing the difference between poisonous and venomous (which I found out) and as I typed in my question the auto fill took over. The first suggestion by google after typing in "what is the difference between" was "what is the difference between effect and affect".

Sorry if this seems like over tread ground, but I have to release some bile. This bile stems from my experience in English class. My English classes were nothing more than exercises in multicolored pen use and drilling in white guilt. We didn't read ANY classic literature. The closest we got was 100 pages into Frankenstein, the teacher gave up and moved to.... multicolored pen use. I think I may have learned 3 new words in 4 years of High school. 2 of those words I learned in economics.

Back to the books, we didn't read anything memorable, thought provoking, or challenging. We tried Frankenstein in my Senior year and, like I said, the teacher gave up. He gave up because it was too difficult for most of the class. A book I read on my own in 6th grade was too hard for 12th graders... I'm just beyond happy that Twilight hadn't made it to my school while I was there, we would have read it had it been popular. We didn't need to read the Mars trilogy, but we could have at least finished Frankenstein. Maybe a part of the problem was that all of my high school English teachers almost exclusively used Ebonics...
Wow, that's kind of a downer. Our own subject Filipino (Philippine language) is also the same, but in Higher Years, we get to read a book/novel assigned to the student. Same in our English class in High School. I was able to read Christmas Carol and Uncle Tom's Cabin.

It took 6 months to read my title.

I was thinking about that as I was typing it, but since most people use google as a verb, I figured I could throw an ing at the end of it.

I figured as much, but was just making sure.

I'm advocating that the proceeded of criminal negligence don't remind with them, so yeah, robbery. Or rather a special "Bankers Tax"
Thus causing all the bankers to move elsewhere. Thus losing us about 30% of our GNP per year. Thus destroying the British economy. Thus making the current recession look amusingly pleasant.

Simple fact: Not everyone is equal. Before the law, yes, we are. Economically, no. Bankers are more important than shop assistants, because there are far more shop assistants, and it's far easier to be a shop assistant. If half the shop assistants in the Uk were to leave, then I'm sure we'd manage. Possibly by means of hiring all the unemployed people. Or other countries unemployed people. If all the bankers left, the economy would collapse.

So... your suggesting we keep the bankers who created this situation? Rather than encouraging them to move on and letting better bankers in?

Also, if a shop assistant screws up and loses the shop a few thousand pounds, the shop keeper would either fire him, or at least dock his wages for abit. With bankers, they get automatic bonuses and extra bonuses even if they fail.

What I'm suggesting is getting rid of these fat tics and getting new people in. I've nothing against banking in general, although I do have to say their economic model of infinite economic grow is deeply flawed.
