So long story short. I broke my right (dominant) arm.

Does anyone have any suggestions for games I can play with just my left hand?
Sent you a PM, might help. Hope your arm gets better soon.
Most excellent thanks. I'm going to repost it here because there is no reason why everyone else shouldn't share in this great info.

Here's a quick list I put together...

XCOM is here. Safe download, no need to mess around with DOSBox, tested it myself.

The Spirit Engine 2, an indie RPG that recently turned free.

Final Fantasy 6: Needs no explanation

Chrono Trigger: Likewise

Terranigma: Accidentally included. While it does have one of the best stories I've seen in a game to date, it's also an action RPG. Sorry.

Rudra No Hihou/Treasure of the Rudras.

Nethack: You know this already.

Crawl: A rather odd roguelike that emphasizes skills, not grinding, not selling/hoarding, and is a bit simpler/fairer than Nethack. Still great. Very neat magic.

ADOM: Hates you. Hates you so much. Possibly the hardest roguelike around.

Incursion: A relatively merciful, very interesting D&D-based roguelike. Sadly partly unfinished.

Let me know if the games don't work/are boring/you don't know how to use emulators/you run out of games/whathaveyou.

P.S.: I also recommend Planescape: Torment and Arcanum, as well as the Etrian Odyssey series. That said, Arcanum is hard to find, and I can't afford it off GoG at the moment.

A few more recommendations: Etrian Odyssey for the DS, some rather good, if vicious dungeon crawlers with fantastic customization.
Age of Wonders 2: Wizard's Throne is a fun if poorly balanced TBS
Heroes Of Might And Magic 3 is fairly good too - I'd also be up for multiplayer of the former if you like.

Sorry about the wall of text, hope it helped. Get well soon!
Thanks again dude.

Obviously strategy and dome turn based roleplaying would be high on that list.

Civ5 has been getting a workout, but looking for something more.
Check out Frozen Synapse on Steam.

So, funny story. I read a story once about a guy who broke his hand also, and he was an avid WoW player who played a Death Knight. So, since his hand was broken, but he wanted to raid, he wrote a macro for his Death Knight that would cast each spell in his rotation and them reset. Then he bound the macro to Scroll Wheel up on his mouse.

So, of course I had to try it on my DK, and wouldn't you know it but it worked like a charm?
Yeah my old GM and raidleader used to do that. He was an excellent player, it was embarrassing how much dmg he could output while leading and spamming a single macro.

Edit: and Frozen Synapse looks great too, right up my alley.

i recomend fallout 1&2

and for the ds the Advanced Wars: series
I'm afraid playing either of those would just want to make me play 3 and New Vegas.

I was in a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. Cut my right palm open quite deep and had to have stitches.

I got really into text-based games like Echo Bazaar (mentioned on Extra Credits). You should have a look, and that goes for anyone!

Hope you arm gets better soon.

If you got a DS then I suggest- LOZ Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Track, Hotel Dusk, Last Window, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars (I not too sure on this one) and Pokemon.

If you have Steam, get Audiosurf for about £5. You can play it with just the mouse and people easily clock up 100 hours on it if they've got a large music library.

As people ave said, Pokemon. Some of the GBA onwards games have a function where you can set the left shoulder button to have the same function as 'A'. So I guess it's possible to play one handed.

If you like Shadowrun or Cyberpunk in general and can appreciate good indie games, try Decker. Its a little confusing at the beginning but can be extremely addicting, turn based "hacking" gamen in a visualised cyberspace (matrix[not the movie, the SR term]). Smugglers IV would be a great thing too, turn based game very much like Wing Commander: Privateer mixed with sid meier's Pirates!.

Point and Click adventure games should work well. Telltale is having a sale right now, 75% off most of their games. I would suggest picking up Sam & Max as well as Tales of Monkey Island. They come as seasons, five episodes a piece. Although it isn't part of the sale, the Back to the Future point and click looks very well done as well.

World of Goo is another good one for one handed gaming. I think I'll skip the joke; it is too easy to make one with that title and your current needs. It is a construction game in which you must use goo balls to build structures to reach a goal and transport non-used goo balls. There is a demo that you can try out to see if it is for you. It is fully mouse driven, but can get a bit frantic in some stages. So, if you lack dexterity in your left hand you may have issues playing it.

Spacechem is another puzzle game that I have fallen in love with. It would work out well for you since almost all the gameplay is setting up your reactors then running the programs. Only the boss fights take place in real time and even those are just the matter of throwing switches that can be handled by one hand. Once again, try out the demo and see what you think. I do warn you, it gets far more complex after where the demo cuts you off. So, don't think the game won't challenge you.

You may also want to check out a game called Altitude. It is a 2D aerial combat (dogfighting) game which can be controled solely by the keyboard. Most of the game takes place online in pvp and the last time I was on -- which has been awhile now that I think about it-- it was still a pretty lively game. Once again, demo to be had so you can fly it before you buy it.

what about the total war series? I've killed manny hours playing this, the campaign map is turn bassed and the battles can be paused so one hand should not be a problem.
