Actually his stand up is good.

OT:
Toploader - Dancing in the moonlight

The really sad thing is that it's also a cover.

It is good - but as a writer, thats what he is known for, nobody really looked at or cared for Lab Rats, and all its reviews said 'its not the Thick of it'.

I hope you know that Wheatus did Teenage Dirtbag and not Weezer.
I do now... damn it are Weezer known for nothing?!
Weezer are probably best known for "Buddy Holly"[/quote]

Yeah, here in England thats the only one that ever got on the radio - we really need more of them on it over here.

Yeah, but that's ONE thing. If everything he does from now on is terrible, then he'd be a one hit wonder. He hasn't done enough stuff to judge that yet. Unless you count 3 seasons of the thick of it and in the loop, the movie of the thick of it... all of which were awesome.

Pacobel's Canon in D. Didn't see this one posted up there. He's been dead for a century and still his song haunts us to this day.

Hey Micky your so fine, you blow my mind. HEY MICKY! HEY MICKY!

Yeah... that one.
Its been stuck in my head for 2 damn weeks. 2 DAMN WEEKS!
Shame on you, now it's stuck in my head! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

OT:
This song got overplayed to death here in Australia, then I never heard about the band again after they released their second song and it didn't sound that good. It's funny because Forever Young is just a cover of an older song.
Alphaville original, covered by many, including that group then. My favourite version is Laura Braningan's (RIP).

On topic:
Eifell 65 - Blue (Da Ba dee)
Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at tiffany's
Nena - 99 Luftaballons
Limahl - Neverending Story
Opus - Live is life

(I know, it's a 2 hit wonder, he passed away already, RIP) Scatman John- I'm a scatman and Scatman World

I'm surprised know one has mentioned Never Gonna Give You Up yet. Every one has heard it and there are even some who like it. He went on tour recently and people came to his concerts just for that song.

And of course:

Another one is Golden Earring with Radar Love. Honestly, that didn't even do too well, but it's recognizable and pretty good. When you listen to any of their other songs though, it's kind of obvious why they're one-hit wonders...
I should slap you for that.
It was a bit too progressive to be popular. Simple minded people don't usually like difficult music.

Okay, okay! Apparently Golden Earring has more good songs than I gave them credit for (considering three people disagreed with me over the course of a two-page thread). I guess they're just not for me (other than Radar Love), but if you guys like them, I have no problem with that.

I found this response unnecessarily rude. Musical taste is subjective, and it is extremely insolent to call someone else "simple minded" just because they don't share yours.

Drop Kick Murphys have other good songs, like Johnny I hardly knew ya. Also, interesting fact: Their lead singer graduated from my high school.

Im gonna say Anberlin, Deep Purple, The Hours, Coheed and Cambria, Faith No More, Jeremih

Hi I'm new to these forums, but I just had to register to say that "What is love," by Haddaway is like the definition of one hit wonder. Anywho *commences head-bopping Roxbury style*

I apologise. I was too rude.
I was in a bad mood when I wrote that. And you are right about everything.

However I still think Golden Earring was too progressive to really become mainstream, outside "Moontan".

Deep Purple?

Smoke on the water isn't their only song. And Machine head isn't really even their best album.

In Rock - Fireball - Machine head is one of the greatest album combos ever. A one hit wonder band won't release a 3CD collection some 30 years after founding the band.

[small]Or are you just trolling?[/small]

Thanks, sir! And yes, they are a pretty progressive band, maybe too much so for my tastes, as well as the tastes of the masses. It was probably a bit rash of me to simply say that they had no other good songs, so in a way, I did provoke you, by essentially picking on a band that you are a fan of. So, I'm sorry too.

Incidentally, I can't believe what a heavy conversation I'm having in a thread about "one-hit wonders"; just seems like an odd place to enter a debate and then receive and give an apology. Ah well.
