still, my biggest question is what kind of riddler will we see? It won't an over the top campy one ala jim carrey, but how can you take a character like that seriously without him becoming a clone of the joker? Also, how can you make him a big enough threat to gotham? Any ideas?
Well, in the serious versions, the Riddler is extremely dark. Contemptuous of everyone as he see himself as the most intelligent person ever and everyone else as idiotic replaceable scum hence why most of his traps involve his goons dying also, with the exception of Batman as he sees him as a rival.. So, I'd imagine he'd be the 'Evil, cold logic, calculating, out for himself kind of guy.' If, you played Batman: Arkham Asylum, they did a a decent job of his personality toward the end when he gets frustrated and dark.

If they did this Riddler, which I expect Nolan to do cause it's suited to his Batman's world, I'd be very pleased.

I really hope, that they havent written the riddler in stone. I would like to see them bypass the riddler all together.

I would really like to see a villian like Bane, or Hush.
Hush teamed up with the Riddler in his premiere. Assuming it doesn't get overcrowded like, say "Batman and Robin," both could work well. Then you'd have the popular Riddler to draw audiences and the less well-known Hush to be awesome.
Almost the case in Batman Begins, with the slightly better known Scarecrow taking point, and Ra's Al Ghul being the big bad.

And I want Hush, dammit! I'd suggest bringing Ra's back, but I actually quite like the uncomplicated non-magical Bat-verse that's going on here, with no healing pits or super-powered villains. (Although I'd also settle for Bane done properly - that's not too over the top for Nolan's sensible bat-verse, is it?)

The reason there was focus on him was because it was a kind of cameo, as he played one of the characters in the more recent version of Heat, a heist movie with Pacino and DeNiro.
I watched Heat quite recently. Between the 'GREAT ASS!' and Al Pacino beating up Henry Rollins (really?) I realised just how bad that movie is.

OT: I would love to see William Fichtner as The Riddler. He's a very talented actor, fantastic in Prison Break and in all the bit parts he gets. I always get the impression that he takes his work seriously and is about the acting, not the stardom.

A good theory, but I'm still hoping for David Tennant.
That would ruin it.

Because every time i see him, i think of that redicoulous and cheesy doctor who series, and i dont really think Tennant is that strong an actor, but i could be wrong.
I would have to disagree with this I have seen Tennant play Hamlet alongside Patrick Stewart , and I have to admit that Tennant was pretty awesome.

You're taking a risk calling Doctor Who cheesy in a den of dorks.

He was Hamlet pretty recently. He's a pretty good actor, but he does seem to be a little high-intensity.

This series has so far been really good at getting the actors to eerily disappear into their roles.

OP: That would be TOTALLY AWESOME if something like this came back. Because nobody who isn't crazy would even have noticed it, and then you'd have the party in ten years where you watch "All Five Nolan Batman Movies In A Row!" and suddenly everybody will say "holy shit!" and spit future-pizza out all over your future-TV.

Or maybe by 2020 we'll all have holographic displays instead of TVs or maybe touchscreens and I forgot what I was talking about.

I just want to know. I honestly don't care who it is, since some of the best performances have come from people we didn't think would fit the part. Just tell us already so we can start geeking out or complaining about who's going to be the villians already!

I really don't care who plays who. I did like Carey as it before, and DeVito was a GREAT Penguin (it's like he became an actor for that single role), but I don't follow nor care enough to go actor hunting for someone who COULD be these villians. I say let them decide and that person show us why they're the best. If we got the Joker so crazy in Ledger, then who knows what we'll get as the P-man and Riddler

I've heard others say this and I agree: The best choice for a new Riddler is Hugo Weaving. The only way to follow-up a manic character like the Joker is with someone absolutely deadpan, and no one does deadpan like Hugo Weaving.

Hmmm that is a very good theory going on there, but I have a feeling that it will be Joseph Gordon Levitt (or Robin Williams).

Edit: I want to see Sazh in the next one, I mean Nolans already established that the character exists.

According to the latest report I read (from June), Nolan hasn't even finished WRITING Batman 3 so we really can't be certain The Riddler is in the film at all. (NOTE: If someone can direct me to a more recent valid article confirming the villain, I'll GLADLY eat my words) On topic though, Fitchner would be cool as Riddler. I would support that.

Also, did you happen to notice that they never explicitly stated that Rachel died? Sure, we saw the explosion, but so what? We were never shown a body. Never a funeral, no mourning.

I thought it could be cool if you never really see the riddler that much and that it is actually a bunch of different guys using the same identity to commit crimes. The riddler would just be their personifaction of it.

She was in a warehouse full of explosives. You can see she's still in the building when it blows up, and the warehouse is completely levelled. If she can survive that, she's not Catwoman she's Wonder Woman.
