Anyway, I hear rumours it will be Alan Scott, which is pretty disappointing firstly because they've already done a coming out story based around his family (his son Obsidian), and because he's hardly what you'd call "iconic" these days. Though I've also heard speculation that it'll be Cyborg, who is even less iconic, even if he is now apparently a founding member of the rebooted JLA. (Remember, speculators, that this is going to be a character that hasn't appeared in the rebooted DC yet).
Yeah, that would be kind of a letdown. Doesn't seem worth all the press, either. "Hey, guys! One of these two characters that no non-comic book reader has ever heard of is gay! Coverage, please!"
Admittedly, they're doing it in response to the marriage of Northstar, who is also deep in the C list, and so disposable to Marvel that I think he's actually managed to be killed off and brought back as a zombie ninja at one point (though apparently he got better, and since he's an X-Man death is an even more minor inconvenience than it is for ordinary comic people).

Apparently gay kids don't need superhero rolemodels, but hetero ones do. Is it because they are already super (and they know it)?
of course they dont and from what i understand from these groups they need to have it shamed and beaten out of them. what scares me the most is that alot of the members of said groups would actually agree with that too.

regardless of who owns the rights to him the one super hero who should come out as gay is captain america.. but thats just for the outrage it would cause you need a good chair and popcorn to watch
Well, considering it's the one superhero named after America... Screw popcorn, I'd be bringing dinner and a date to that spectacle!

One million mothers versus a team of gay superheores? I'd watch the hell out of that movie.
What would make it more interesting for me, would be if the mothers were pms-ing... But that's just me and my sick senses talking again...

Let 'em rage. One day they'll be dead and gay people will still be around. SHORELEAVE NEEDS HIS OWN SERIES!

... I was going to reply angrily to the article, tearing apart the MM quotes.

But... I'm just too disgusted with the whole organization. Once again (for the nth time) fuck you, Million Moms. Go die in a fire. The resulting million orphans will be better off without intolerant fucks like you as their mothers.

Hmmm...

Show of hands, guys: Who here thinks a petition should be made to...

A) Have the ACLU file charges against OMM for 1st Amendment Rights violations...since they have no right to demand that homosexuals not be represented in print and/or digital media?
B) Have the kids of these "moms" taken away from them by Child Services since they are clearly advocating intolerance...which is a major nono is this age where we are trying to put the kibosh on bullying?
C) Demand that the members of OMM take part in sensitivity training, possibly even getting a court order to force them?
D) Any/all of the above?

whenever I see an article like this it reads in my head,

"you're challenging my societal norms and that make me uncomfortable."
More like "Oh no my asshole kid may read this, and I'm far too lazy/stupid/ignorant to properly explain to them something they'll simply shrug off."

If the kids are already looking up to big manly men in spandex getting along really well, I don't really think one of them being openly gay is going to make the slightest bit of difference.
Honestly growing up, I thought they were all homosexual.

They should just ignore these whining conservative weirdos, I would, make an entire AU where the whole cast is DC is gay, that would make a one hell of a sitcom too...

When did "family" become a euphemism for "uptight conservative killjoys"?
I'm probably not the first to tell you this, but I'm not checking 12 pages, but it's pseudonym. Not euphemism, which is generally more sex related.
Nope.

A pseudonym is a fake name for a person, usually an author.

A euphemism is a word substituted for another one that is considered too blunt or harsh. It does not necessarily relate to sex.

You may have been thinking of "synonym". That means a word that has the same meaning as another word.
Oh yeah. Derp

Wait what? So Hulkling in a relationship with Wiccan while Rictor being in a relationship with Shatterstar are ok but not this considering their relationships status happen years ago?
Or maybe they like the fact that other shortlive superhero Freedom Ring was killed off?
I don't think Young Avengers is really famous enough to attract OMM rage, mostly because Marvel never announced it as a 'new series with gay folks in it!' Hulkling and Wiccan are homosexual, but it isn't a sales tactic or the center of their character. Personally I think that's the right way to do diversity. OMM is raging because there was a press release about it. It won't really change anything though. They are not the sort of people who would buy the comics anyway.

A super hero being gay isnt the issue, deciding to make one gay for the hell of it is. Yeah, lets just make Batman gay or Flash (although we all know its probably the fish guy. lol No real reason to make him gay, just for ratings and create hype for the comics. Its disgraceful. All the gay people out there should be against this as its insulting.

Since always. Really.

Am I the only one who thinks groups like less-than-One Million Moms need to be censored?

Heh, I just used their "send an enraged letter" form to send Marvel & DC a letter of support. Wonder what will happen if DC/Marvel uses a letter sent from OMM as a letter of support . It's from their website, it's got to be true!
