if you haven't check out my first post, please do not, for my sanity, please please do not.

anyways, some points made by people on that post did lead me to rethink my first post, so anyways.

Gamers, or people really, seem to be program to make something bad, or at least doing something annoying with it. As you see, gamers are in fact hurting gaming's respectability, to other gamers and non-gamers. They are not the only things though, such as developers getting away with making poor quality release games (Fallout New Vegas), or publishers not wanting to budge on design details (cod clone 50), but that's for other forums.

Is this just hurting gaming only, heck no, sports, art, cooking, engineering, love, etc, are all taking a beating from people. However, in gaming case, its getting to the point where some of us would like to duck tape mouths shut, or use a brainwashing device, but that's getting carried away.

I also see since this has likely been happening though the ages, it will continue to happen, that's a fact. here are some results of it to gaming communities.

If you want examples, then look no further then games like WoW, LoL, and CoD, where the bad gamers have given entire community a bad rep. THIS, MADNESS, HAS, GOT, TOO, STOP. Now do these communities deserve these titles of being full of bad players? No, there are also good gamers in the groups, often forming a bigger part then the so called "bad gamers". Its just the vocal part gives the rest of the communitiy a bad rep, so it chases away newer players, and causes the game player count to shrink (though in wows case, that's not a bad thing, since it has killed the mmorpg genre for the past few years). If you want to write off a gamer for poor behavior go ahead if he proved himself to be that, but don't go ahead and write off the entire group.

Are the bad gamers ever gonna leaves us? No, but what we can do, if these gamers continue to give us as a whole a bad image? To simply say, they are not what gaming is about, they are lost in their minds, they in no way represent gaming as a whole. Maybe if we start to do this, people will get the idea that gaming is not what the news says, the lies are fake, it something entirely different. It is a form of art that is not crafted by one person or a group, but is crafted by anyone who plays it.

Nobody is posting because there is nothing to say. I believe the term is "discussion value". This thread lacks it.

Your opening post is nearly incoherent and doesn't say much beyond, "Some gamers are irritating arseholes and can give the rest of their respective communities a bad reputation."

We are entirely aware of this.

ok why no one posting?, i want posts!
and i want a solid gold toilet, but it's just not on the cards now, is it?

Yeah, you make an interesting point, in essence your entire argument is 'some people who play games aren't nice people, i'm not like that' Welcome to the escapist, we're all like that.

Bad gamers are generally the most vocal so they tend to be at the forefront of things giving gaming communities their bad names.
A lot of the problem in my view stems from lack of active policing on offical forums, many companies don't even have admins or just don't care how people behave. Without some sort of consequnce for acting like an asshat people will continue to be idiots.
In my experience fansites tend to have much better admining (not always) than many offical forums but its the official forums that give the initial impression of the community outside of the game itself and they are often the ones that need the most policing.

I disagree , it's not hurting videogames , it's hurting multiplayer. And since multiplayer is second to singleplayer ... Wait what? Multiplayer is even more important than single player you say? Oh , well then we are screwed .

Well , i play single player ans coop with friends only so i'm not affected .

Krazykidd has the right of it I believe. If people have a bad online experience it does not mean they will quit playing games. It means they will either switch to another online game to see if there is a better community or they will simply go to a single-player mode. The game experience when you are not online is more predictable as far as enjoyment.

As for when bad gamers will quit playing games? Never. They are attempting to have an experience that pleases them, the same as everyone else. And what one calls a bad player may be the opposite of what another would consider to be a bad player. For example: Player 1 is an excellent sniper and enjoys taking out a lot of targets. Player 1 does not believe in "taking it easy" on anyone because s/he feels the best way to learn is to jump in with both feet. Player 1's biggest complaint is bad players getting in the way of his shots or being poor sports about dying in the game. Player 2 is a new player who tries to be friendly and is willing to share a lot of gear collected in game. Player 2 believes that players who are not cooperative players and kill new players repeatedly when they clearly aren't skilled are the bad players. Who is right? Both? Neither?

The best way to counter "bad" players is to have guilds or camps set up in games where like-minded players can support one another to have the kind of experience that all of them can enjoy. At least in the online games that helps. Outside of that, welcoming all people who play games to the fold rather than trying to separate out the PC gamers from the console ones or "hard core" gamers from "arcade-style" gamers would do a lot to help the community grow.

Is that a sufficient answer? ;D
