if you haven't check out my first post, please do not, for my sanity, please please do not.
anyways, some points made by people on that post did lead me to rethink my first post, so anyways.
Gamers, or people really, seem to be program to make something bad, or at least doing something annoying with it. As you see, gamers are in fact hurting gaming's respectability, to other gamers and non-gamers. They are not the only things though, such as developers getting away with making poor quality release games (Fallout New Vegas), or publishers not wanting to budge on design details (cod clone 50), but that's for other forums.
Is this just hurting gaming only, heck no, sports, art, cooking, engineering, love, etc, are all taking a beating from people. However, in gaming case, its getting to the point where some of us would like to duck tape mouths shut, or use a brainwashing device, but that's getting carried away.
I also see since this has likely been happening though the ages, it will continue to happen, that's a fact. here are some results of it to gaming communities.
If you want examples, then look no further then games like WoW, LoL, and CoD, where the bad gamers have given entire community a bad rep. THIS, MADNESS, HAS, GOT, TOO, STOP. Now do these communities deserve these titles of being full of bad players? No, there are also good gamers in the groups, often forming a bigger part then the so called "bad gamers". Its just the vocal part gives the rest of the communitiy a bad rep, so it chases away newer players, and causes the game player count to shrink (though in wows case, that's not a bad thing, since it has killed the mmorpg genre for the past few years). If you want to write off a gamer for poor behavior go ahead if he proved himself to be that, but don't go ahead and write off the entire group.
Are the bad gamers ever gonna leaves us? No, but what we can do, if these gamers continue to give us as a whole a bad image? To simply say, they are not what gaming is about, they are lost in their minds, they in no way represent gaming as a whole. Maybe if we start to do this, people will get the idea that gaming is not what the news says, the lies are fake, it something entirely different. It is a form of art that is not crafted by one person or a group, but is crafted by anyone who plays it.
