I posted a few things about this in a D&D thread before I left on vacation and wanted to follow up.

I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in playing an Online D&D campaign, using such tools as Ventrilo/Skype and Map Tools (any other suggestions welcome). So far most of my resources are with the 4th edition and subscribed to the insider for the character creator. I also have a few 3.0 books laying around but no 3.5 sadly.

Maybe we can get a group going of Escapist users or perhaps 2 groups, depending on user location.

I was thinking a one night a week game would be pretty fun, especially for those who want to play but cannot find a close by game.

Anyways leave some thoughts or suggestions or post if you are interested and want to Play or DM. I will be honest I am new to the DMing side but willing to try if needed. Around 3-6 players would be optimal.

That actually sounds rather fun, but since I don't have any of the books or anything(and it's been about 3 years since I played) I will have to say I wish I could but probably can't.

I don't think it would be TOO hard with out the material on hand. There are other things you can use like the character creator from the D&D insider and compendium.

I know you can pay a one time subscription fee to the insider for a months worth up updated material and the use of the Character creator, which still works after the subscription runs out, you just wont get updates.

You might also try adding your post to Tabletop-Gaming User Group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Tabletop-Gaming]. You have a pretty decent chance of finding some players in there.

Aw, that would be fantastic. It's so hard to find people willing to play nearby... I would be all for that. And I'm fine with using 4.0: despite what some of the veterans think, I prefer it to 3.5.

In short: absolutely, I'm in if you're willing to have me. I'm reasonably inexperienced, but I've played, and I love it.

A few of us actually tried this via Skype. It was pretty fun, actually, and we made a User Group. It's just that we only played one session, and never got back to playing.

I would, if I were experienced in D&D, and wasn't such a shy bastard. If it were on a forum, then fuck yeah, I'd join.

I would love to try something like that, as long as you have a good way of handling dice rolls over the internet. I only currently have 3.5 books, but I could pick up the 4.0 stuff if that's what you end up going with. I have played all previous versions at one point or another. PM me if you get something going or need more info from me.

I wish I had the 3.5 material but sadly I do not. I hear a lot of good things though. I jumped straight from 3.0 to 4th. Could definitely have you on if we can find enough interested.

Thanks, I did just that.

I've never played but have a set somewhere. I'd really love to try if you don't mind having a first time player around.

The Map Tools utility has a commands for dice rolls, You can make your own buttons in your interface to your own attack rolls and modifiers, click the button and you roll.

I've never played, but always wanted to try. I'm sure I could find a set somewhere nearby, if you're willing to put up with me. I'm a fast learner :D

Figured I'd post some helpful links for online tools to use.
Here is the site for Maptools if you are interested and want to look over it.
http://www.rptools.net/

Here is one called iPlay4e. This is a site where you can upload a character file from you character creator and have it online for others to look at and access, also shows all the stats. Posted my Seeker up as an example.

You're welcome. Also if you are still interested in running 3.5 and all of this would be available to all your players because it's online. The Hypertext d20 SRD [http://www.d20srd.org/] and Revised (v.3.5) System Reference Document [http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35] are basically all of 3.5 minus the pictures and a few choice trademarked monsters.

If we get over more then 6 players we will need to get another group going. I will post something up again later tonight, maybe we can all meet up in Skype or my Ventrilo server this week and discuss.

If I DM a game I will probably be starting off with something pre-made just until I get into my groove of things.

I've always been interested in D&D, would it be at all possible to spectate or something?
