Online D&D game campaign

I have the 4.0 rulebooks and have actually played twice. I also am attempting to get in a game on this site here: http://www.dndonlinegames.com/index.php

It's play by post (which would be like old-time play by e-mail) so it's really, really slow paced, but still fun and allows for a bit easier time of roleplaying since you can think and write up your character's actions and motivations.

This way is more like an actual session. The maps and tokens are right in front of you on the screen and a DM controls the board.



I need to set up something this week, perhaps Thursday evening for some people to join in vent and look at MapTools and if we have enough people we can split into some groups with multiple DM's. At least that is what I am aiming for...

That sounds awesome, so count me in if you do get it running. I won't be able to DM because I'm still quite a bit of a noob at this, but I'm aware of the basics of how to play.

Huh. Maybe you should make a group or something, since apparently this is a hugely popular idea.

Anyways, you're swamped with people, but I'd love to play. I've had plenty of RPing experience, although mostly with White Wolf, and I've got the 4ed PHB.

I'm yet another of the "i've not played before but would love to" group

Unfortunately i have none of the 4.0 materials.
I'd also love to have a go at DM ing, but again, never done it (though i do have a DM rulebook of an unknown edition, so I have a bit of an idea how it goes).

So if another DM's needed i'll give it a shot, but may need advice

I know it's a bit late but I'd love to join if possible. I've had a lot of 4th ed experience, but I've never been a dm. I could definately help out the dms though. Do we have to use the character creator, I'm not a big fan of it and I have access to all the books anyway.

It seems as if you have a lot of people already, but I'd be down to either play or DM. I will admit now, that I'm pretty ruthless as a DM.

EDIT:
I also, have my own homebrewed campaign world set up with it's own lore, maps, and what not. It's very heavily mythological and literary-ly based. With fun places, like the Grove of Fetters. And Elves that ritually scar themselves and are essentially barbarians. Plus the Clerics of Pain are fun too.

I'd be willing to DM. I've got most of the 4e books. Time could be the only awkward bit, being somewhat in the middle of my A-levels.

You guys and anyone else interesting in DMing, send me a PM titled DM if you don't mind with an e-mail addy. I will set up a Date tomorrow if possible for us to get together in my Ventrilo server and see what all we have and are wanting to do. From there we can start pulling together some parties.

I plan on getting a calendar to on G-mail or something we can all use to schedule games.

I would also like to pre-thank all those who wish to take up the DM mantel.

I guess I will start a group.

For new players I think we can work something out. The main thing you will need is a PHB (players hand book) which will give you all the basics as a player.

This will pretty much be your go to book as a beginner.

I started up a group for all those interested.

I made some random dice rolls for fun, and it was horrible. I never rolled over a 7. Random number generators will murder me.

EDIT: Woo! After 9 rolls, I broke 10!

Honestly, dude, 4e isn't that bad. It's just makes the combat, IMHO more streamlined, and while combat is important, there is way more to a game than just combat.

I played my human wizard to level 7 and hated every bit of that crappy system. It has way to limited customization.

If we can get a DM for the 3.0 or 3.5 then we can definitely run a game of it. Doesn't matter what Edition, just need a person to run the game.
