It's almost as bad as online package tracking; refresh, refresh, refresh. Anyone ever used one of these sites and gotten paranoid over why someone isn't replying even though you can see they're online?

Oh and if you happen to be on the escapist too, reply you cad!

[heebie jeebies] I'm making captcha nervous with my crazy spinster talk.
The anonymity of the Internet is mostly to blame for that. In spite of a profile page, photos and/or a well written Email, the disconnect between us and the profiles we see is not dissimilar from these forums. People post anything, even things they wouldn't in real life because of the security of anonymity.

So it is with those sites. Generally, the rule is that no answer means not interested. While I'm sure some people would take the time to reply with something polite to say they weren't interested, most simply don't. Treat it as a numbers game, rather than getting hopes up on any one guy. You have to send a lot of messages for even one response, but when it comes it's a good sign :) You're a very pretty woman so it's likely you won't need to wait long for the replies. And those who don't reply, forget them, they aren't right for you, move on.

Lol, I always hate that feeling. The worst is when I'm tired and post something kind of careless and opinionated, then wake up in the morning and see a bunch of notifications.
Haha yeah. I have this terrible tendency to not think through my posts when throwing my opinion into a highly controversial topic and then needing to go back and clarify things.

I may or may not have tried a few, and I've got to agree with the guy that pointed out that a lot of the girls show pics of themselves in their sexiest outfits then rage in their profile how people are just wanting a fuck.

I mean really, if a book has a pair of people naked and kissing, what the hell do you think is going to be on the inside? While it's not always fair to judge a book by it's cover, you can find out a lot by giving it a look over.

after using a dating website for a while, I somehow feel like I've already managed to alienate most of my target demographic in a short amount of time >_>

Thanks ^_^
ya, what he said. It seems oddly depressing in this dating-economy when not even an attractive woman can get a date. What is wrong here?!

From the perspective of somebody whose mom tried it out: don't be surprised if they spend half an hour trying to find the perfect turn of phrase. Or mulling your every comma looking for hidding meaning.

Really, that was some in-house entertainment right there. And I even liked the guy she hooked up with!

Just too bad they split up when he came out of the closet.

Virgins?
*snerk* No, wait... I have no idea but it was more "Feminism means I can't get laid, women are evil blah blah blah" I think it's The Manosphere or something.

Sorry OP. not intentional honest.
Y'know, a lot of people are gonna accuse me of being that (although I never said that, but hey ho, that's the internet, where logic goes to die) but all I can think of is that "love celibacy" society that Rimmer was a part of in red dwarf. "Love is an invention designed by bank managers and novelty card makers".

Yeah tried those once.

No quicker way of making you feel bad about yourself. At least in real life there are plenty of other things I can blame for not meeting/socialising with women.

Is it bad that I'm considering just getting a giant sign and wearing it as I walk?

You know like this:

But with my details on it.

(It would be like "This man is single and available. Call xxxxxxxxx for details")

At least then, people will know I'm interested! XD
(And I don't have to ask them! HAHA!)

EDIT: On second thought, maaaaaybbee online dating isn't such a bad option... XD

I've come to the conclusion that all girls on these sites have delusions about finding their prince charming one day. After that, I couldn't take it seriously again and just shake my head at the thought of it.

There are kind of a lot of... passive women on them? The kind that are basically like

"Hi, I have no drive, motivations, hobbies or education. I just want a nice guy to sweep me off my feet and take care of me!"

I'm, personally, not really into babysitting.

Haha!

Well I guess all the good ones really are taken! XD

(Well... they certainly wouldn't need online dating to find a man eh? ;p)

Well damn, aren't you popular. The most I've had at one time is three, I think.
Notifications you say?!

On topic, one of my good friends met the lady he is now engaged too through one of those sites. So I guess you can find someone, if you look hard enough. As for the messaging - I'm the same with my phone; I message back instantly because it's what I'd expect of other people, when I have to wait for 30 or 40 minutes for a reply I get a little aggravated...

I used to be on OK Cupid myself, originally just for the tests but I decided to try the dating side after a while for the fun of it. Then I started to get more serious about it and ended up one of the obsessive types you mention :p. Though I did eventually quit due to very little luck (the one girl I did speak to outside the site had some severe issues at the time regarding her dad's health, and it was a bit too much baggage for me at the time), and the girls local to me when I moved back home after uni weren't really worth the effort. But yeah, I used to keep refreshing the page and got quite paranoid to some degree. Now that paranoia is channeled into refreshing for replies to my threads here and to my stories on Fanfiction.net and Deviant Art! So at least I have something else to be obsessive over... :p

Somebody should really clean out your inbox. A clean inbox is a happy inbox!

Just join user groups and don't turn off chat notifications and yours can look like that as well!

Well, that somebody won't be me! I'm pretty sure there's an auto-delete function...because the number will randomly drop sometimes...
