dont be so quick to judge the republicans.
You know, I thought the whole "Obama can't be president because he wasn't actually born in Hawaii" thing was a bunch of crap... and then I read the case of Major Cook.
Cook, a reservist, received orders sending him to Afghanistan in early July. He, with the help of an attorney that has been working this angle for awile, filed in court for an injunction to stay the deployment orders, citing Maj. Cook's objection to following what he believes to be an illegal order to combat, as he does not believe that Obama is qualified per the terms of the Constitution - - that he was not "natural born" in the United States.
Okay, up til there, this could just be political wrangling from a legal angle, coupled with a person undesirous to go to Afghanistan (though 'major' is a rank high eonugh that it takes some doing to get there; not likely to be tossed aside for small reasons).
Here's where it got interesting:
After the Major and his lawyer filed for the injunction and asked the court to demand the "long form original" of Obama's birth certificate (the one bearing the doctor's signature, place and time of birth, etc - - not the 'short form' cert produced earlier)... the Army recinded the Major's orders, without explanation.
Why? They wont bother presenting a stupid document that will completely destroy cooks case?
that is of course, if they actually have one...
so the republicans aren't as stupid as you think. If Obama is really a true citizen, why can't he show his birth certificate and avoid the whole thing?
i still think obama is a citizen, since i would think they would have dug deeper during his campaign. But that case raises some questions.
