I had one complaint about the beta, and that was that they fucked the button layout more than Halo 3 did. Luckily, you can switch it to the Halo 3 controls.

And after I did that, they were AMAZING!

It was a bit faster and more visceral than Halo 3.

I thought it was good fun, and will be getting the full game when it comes out.
Hehe, its amusing that one of the key complaints made was that the gameplay is slower than the previous Halo games. =)

OT: I loved all the previous Halo games and I loved the beta, so its pretty much a certain buy for me.
i think it depended on what perk you were using with the way the maps were designed..i never ran out in the open in fear of the stupid jetpack fuckers, so i sprinted around in the inside parts mostly, but otherwise it was faster paced,

but...

i miss my BR dearly =[

however the new guns are fun, i hope they have a few more of them to add to the mix maybe?

Not really interested. I would play it only for Multiplayer, and that won't be happening unless Xbox Live becomes free. Money grabbing bastards...

The Beta was... well, it was Halo, and I think Halo is pretty mediocre.

The Jetpacks were OK, but they just made me want to play Tribes

The beta, especially Elite Slayer, was a whole lot of crazy fun and given that I've pretty much enjoyed every Halo game so far I eagerly anticipate this one.

Sounds like some more fur of the same dead fox. Who's also been cremated, so now they brought the body back with some evil voodoo mumbo-jumbo.
I really liked the first game, the second sucked and I never played the 3rd.
Sue me.
and why do they call dual wielding akimbo in MW2? I'll never know
... because dual wielding weapons is called Akimbo?
Duh.
It's technically having hands on hips arms bent. But that's too much Wikipedia talking.
Yeah, I just looked what it originally meant up to. But it still sounds damn cool.

I really liked the beta even though armor lock was a bit over used. But what i'm really pysched for is the new additions to forge. I can't wait to make some extreme platforming maps that invlove jet packs. I like generator defense, slayer and all the other game modes but forge and coustom games and so much more shelf life to the halo series.

The beta was win.

They said they're going to fix EVERYTHING people complained about, sooo...Orgasmic if you aks me. And yes, not even nerdgasmic, I'm going the full way.
It also helps that most of the backgound for the sky and such were just placeholders [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=BWU_052810]. So expect the final game to be a lot nicer.

Bungie said:
Just as things started looking damn good for Playtest 5, the realization that plenty of that content was still placeholder (like the skies you saw over Boneyard in the Beta) is only now starting to sink in for me.
I'm kinda hyped for it. I've always been intrested in Reach so being able to see the final battle in action is pretty exciting for me.

After playing the multiplayer I was annoyed to discover that it was crap(my opinion thats what we were asked to give.) but I still hold out hope for the singleplayer.
Oh yeah, EVERYONE knows that the single player always does better than the multiplayer in halo,
give it sometime, although since the game is coming out in september they're probably packaging it right now.
Actually they discussed that recently [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=BWU_060410].

What stage of development are we in right now? We are closing. There are 18 days 14 hours and 30 seconds left before ZBR*, after which we enter a phase of testing and stabilization where changes are minimal. Most everyone on the project is focused on one thing: crushing their bug counts to zero. A lot of the final polish - the stuff that can only get done once the vast majority of the game stable ? is coming online, and it is glorious. Hallways that already looked beautiful before now have smoke and debris falling from the ceilings, missions that were already fun are getting lots of design polish, troopers who have been previously mute or overly verbose are now saying the right things at the right time.

*ZBR is old school software development vernacular that literally stands for "Zero Bug Release." In reality it's a bit of a misnomer as bugs are still being fixed but it?s come to represent the pivotal milestone where the game gets clamped down and the bar for making changes is significantly raised to only those that are deemed "Pri1Sev1" and have major negative impacts to the game.
I read all the updates but I still thought the sky was pretty nice, though Bungie crafts some master backdrops it still felt pretty epic.

Beta's pretty good; looks a lot more balanced than a lot of other multiplayers out there.

I really don't feel like bashing Halo, Bungie's products are all fine, but way behind the times and nothing ever feels cutting edge. There are a few new ideas in Reach, but not enough for me to get over the feeling that I'm playing Super Halo 3 with better equipment, marginally improved graphics, and wonky grenade physics. Just my opinion, it could surprise me, but right now I just feel very meh about it.

I wasn't impressed. Played it for an hour, and only that long because I payed for an hour. It was slow, sluggish, horribly vague as to what the actual objective and function of the weapons and objectives were and just not fun.

For me, anyways.

On what, exactly?
The part I bolded. "I payed for an hour." I was just curious.

I didn't play the beta for long; however, it was a lot of fun--even when I was on the loosing team.

One of the HML-stores on Picadilly Circus has a kind of Gaming Bar in the back. I payed for an hour of gaming with a particular game.

It looks really really impressive - the customization options are mindblowing and since the theatre mode is returning, I'm getting it.
Oh, and the gameplay looks real good, too.

Beta was awesome. Should have been one more week, and should have had one more gametype. That's all I can really say.

The REACH beta managed the near impossible task of making me care about playing the multiplayer again. I really loved the MP in the first, then grew tired of it as time went on and sequels came to pass. I never hated the multiplayer mind you, I just played Halo mostly for the fun co-op and interesting story (shut up, it's good if you read the books).

But then comes the Reach beta and I'm once again engaged by the multiplayer. Not the least of the reasons why is the social options available to tweak the type of players you are going to be matched with. The option to look for other players interested in a nice, respectful, quiet game makes a lot of difference. Of all my games during the beta, I only had one or two really obnoxious players who managed to sneak into the games I was in. Imagine it. No yelling at the top volume, no racial slurs, no "press X to veto" every bloody game even if it looks like a fun match... ugh.

I've already pre-ordered the game. And I'll probably get one of the collector edition versions, though the "Legendary" edition is priced way above its worth so I'll likely end up with whatever the middle one is called.
