So recently me and my girlfriend were having a talk about past relationships and such. And to get straight to it, whats basically said was she doesnt believe in being supportive of a mate's problems...that just doesnt sound right to me though. Was wondering if anyone had some input here, like agree or disagree and why.

She doesn't want to support her boyfriend (or girlfriend)? That's kinda strange. I mean, if my girlfriend was crying because her boss at work was being a jerk for no real reason (I mean NO REAL REASON) then I would totally help her.

I do believe I disagree, if a relationship is going to stay together for a decent amount of time, both people need to be supportive of each other, and generally care for each other more than they care about themselves.

That's how you make junk work, there.

Sometimes people have enough problems already and don't want to have to deal with somebody else's.

I strongly disagree though. The reason my boyriend and I are so close is because we make each other's problems our own, that way they are resolved quickly.

Like she wouldnt help me through any emotional problems caused by a prior relationship because she would feel as if she were a rebound girl, which i understand, but other emotional problems...like if i had issues with my family she would, she doesnt think she would be able to...she would try tho

Well, that really sucks.
I sincerely hope that you have another great friend that you can share your problems with.

Doesn't sound like you should get real attached to the girl, because that's not exactly how relationships work.

sounds like you need to think if she's worth it (looks, or personality) if she's not great on those then looks like you need to do some more looking

Sounds like she's just looking for a reason to cop out. If she straight up says she's not interested in helping you out--then it sounds like she's already decided somewhere in her mind that you aren't worth helping and she doesn't expect things to last with you.

Forgive me for asking, but then why the fuck is she your girlfriend?

It's like getting a friend whom refuses to laugh when he's around you. One of the whole ideas of a relationship is that you can share what's bothering you.

isn't that the whole reason for having a real relationship? to have someone to talk to when you're having problems?

Sounds like what she is saying is "I wont spport YOU when you need me but when I need you, you had better be there or I will cut you like that toast I cut early... with the sweet butter and boiled eggs to dip the toast into after I cut it up into strips so they fit into the egg easier, mmmmmm."... Well, thats not a very nice thing for her to say. :0

She's asking for you to care about her problems while she expects you to want absolutely nothing in return. Get rid of her.
Hey, thats what I said but I made a reference to a tasty breakfast too. :D

Dump her ass and sleep with her mother/sister/cousin/all three.

It's the only way.
