I also hate it when DS Lites sell out when we tell people thinking about it now to get it or they won't find them. I could list some REALLY funny (and sad) Gamestop stories if people were interested.
Oh I love stories! Send me one through PM please.

Oprah with a Wii, huh? Reminds me of something I read about a couple of years ago: when one of the Halo games was released (number 2, I believe), there were numerous celebrities involved in a little exclusive gaming club, who got the game, a limited edition XBOX system, and a nifty suitcase to carry that (and other) crap in there. Hilary Duff, members of Linkin Park, some rapper, and a few others who I can't remember were some of the celebrities. I think they were involved on XBOX Live, but honestly, it sounds sketchy.

Feel free to correct and/or change what I've stated.

Would you rather hear one about the angriest PSP Lady ever or the Kid with a questionably broken PS3 or the little DS that could or the Xbox that nearly killed me (exaggeration)?

The Little DS That Could, please. That sounds like an epic tale of improbably awesome hardware.

As for the Angry stories, I'll just go and reread the Gord stories (Or perhaps that archive by that one porn store worker that I can never seem to find again. EVER.)

Maybe you should make a thread about that, a thread with a title like "gamestop employe cofensions" or some other crap like that.

Oprahs Game of the month club. Doesn't sound that weird.

Thing is, if that actually happens, we could see a scenario of actually bringing the truth of art within games to the masses. Say Oprah plays No More Heroes, then talks about it on her show. He have tens of millions of mother who are suddenly hearing that games actually have meaning, have subtlety, are art.

Well I think it would be a good thing.
Maybe that will happen... in the "gaming headlines from an alternate dimensions" thread.

Say what you will about the woman, she's not an idiot. Its possible that she'll get there eventually, and she'll understand it when she does.
That could easily backfire though. Plus if she mentions a bloody game on the Wii with curses and stuff it would ruin her image.

I really don't see the problem. Really. People complain when gaming culture is lambasted in the media, and that we, as gamers, are misunderstood and reviled by 'normal' people. Then, when it looks like gaming might become more widely accepted, they complain because... I really don't know why...

If you're worried about the spread of 'casual' games, well, it's pretty much accepted that it's the Wii's market now. It's not a real competitor to the Xbox and PS3 in the 'hardcore' area of games, it never will be and it was never intended to be. That does not make it any less of a games console, but rather one aimed at a different part of the market, which it does very well. This won't have any real effect on the more hardcore, adult-orientated games, because the consumer base doesn't really overlap too much.

... ok I sort of went off-topic there...

Still, I must extend my sympathies to anyone working in a games store when all the mothers come in :(

Yeargh! Burn them! Purge the earth with fire and salt! Please, anything but the frackin' soccer moms!
DUDE! (or dude-ette) Soccer moms are hot.

Seriously though. If more super famous and influential people were into vidjamagames of some kind and were more open about it, games would be WAY more accepted and less hounded in the media.

My hope is that Oprah buys an X-Box..

If Oprah said that eating poop was a way to advance female rights, you know what would happen.

If she said she enjoyed the Nintendo Wii, the world might just fucking explode.

I don't have anything against soccer moms...

If Oprah's actually going to play some games, then good for her. Maybe it will become more popular among women in general, and then it could be a way for me to meet some...

If only.

I'm just giggling at the idea that Oprah and whatever pathetic pile of flesh for a guest is present will be saying Wii constantly on international television..... I am so mature and dignified.

This is Nintendo's fault for advertising to all ages. They just want to rule the world now.
Oh and Plastic_window, I am absolutely amazed and astounded at your immensely grand skills in observation and deduction. Surely were you born in Sir Conan-Doyle's time, Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft, or Moriarty himself would've been based on your simply divine ability to ascertain the truth in such matters.

Oh she'll just end up buying some for everyone on the planet.

"Boy this Wii Beer Pong game on Wii-Ware is just great for parties, everyone should have it!...AND IT'S YOUR LUCKY DAY BECAUSE EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE AND EVERYONE WATCHING AT HOME WILL GET ONE RIGHT NOW!!!"

*starts hearing planes overhead*

*Wii supply drop lands in my driveway, including every game and peripheral, and a small T.V. to plug it all into*

*starts crying because that's what you have to do when oprah gives you stuff*

Maybe she can help us get that damn Wii-Hard drive thing we've wanted.
