organs never go to waste
if someone recieves your organs, that means they have gone tothe transplnt society and they have proved
A) they really need the organ
B) they really deserve the organ ( a smoker, drug user, would have very little chance of getting one)
c) they really could use it (it will extend natural life for at least several years)

donate ur organs, they are never waste, at least no more than if you were buried with them and left to rot

Also - and I'm glad that only one person so far has made the claim - the idea that doctors sometimes let donors die so that they can harvest the organs IS COMPLETELY FALSE. They often don't even look at your drivers license beyond confirming your identity, because it contains no medical records. The DOCTORS usually don't see it at all. Some nurse might, but only so they know who you are so they can get your medical records and get you to surgery. In the ER, the doctors probably don't even know your NAME. They know what's wrong with you, and any medical conditions that will directly effect how they fix you.

Perpetuating that myth is almost criminally stupid. It has caused so many people to reject the idea of organ donation without ever giving it serious thought.
Unfortunately, perpetuating most myths of those sort fall close to being criminally stupid.

I'm an organ donor myself but I am a specific donor. I am only giving my lungs, kidneys, and liver. The rest of my organ are staying inside me so that is something for my family to bury. But they whole point in giving organs is to give a second chance. Somebody screws their second chance, oh well. I'm dead so what do I care what happens to my other organs?
What about your corneas? They're one of the most transplanted tissues and no one will miss them because even open caskets are pretty much universally close eyed.

For starters, lung cancer and emphysema patients usually aren't give lung transplants. They're usually given chemo or oxygen tanks. If there's so much cancer tissue in your lungs that they have to remove them completely you're pretty much a walking corpse, and not worth organs.

I really wish we would move into an opt-out system in the U.S, with a "maybe" option.

As far as I'm concerned they can take me to a chop shop and leave some skin and bones left. Maybe make a commemorative bar of soap out of my body fat.
