I'm sure you've heard Yahtzee say that original gaming titles are to be praised, since sequels are about as common as iPods. For me, I think Borderlands deserves a decent sequel and eventually, maybe High Moon Studios could work on another Transformers game, because we all know how good War For Cybertron is.

So what original titles would you like to see continued? (new titles with no planned or offically announced sequels)

Pretty random contribution, but Pure. That quadbike racing game.
That was the most fun I'd had for quite some time, until it started to get tricky.
I'd love to be able to do new parts that are easy. Having more characters'd be nice too. They might actually manage to make at least one likeable fella'.

Apparently there was a sequel planned, but it was cancelled or somethin', I dunno.

EDIT:

Mirrors Edge. It had so much potential.
I'm pretty sure they've already announced the sequel. Might of misread it, but I think it was intended to be a trilogy.

hang on... are we talking about games that do currently exist that we think need a sequel??
Coz would that not then take away from the originality somewhat?

If that makes sense?

I'm pretty sure I read that Gearbox trademarked the name Borderworlds a few months ago, I'd try find the article, but it was way too long for me to remember where I read it. Fingers crossed it comes to fruition.

Darkest of Days...I may have been the only person who pre ordered it and got the demo a few weeks before it was released. Great soundtrack, great controls, ok story...but hopefully a sequel will be there.

It's hard to pick, because these days anything that does moderately well gets a sequel, or a copycat or a spinoff.

I wouldn't be surprised if Borderlands 2 is already in the works but I would second that choice.

System Shock 2. I'm sure as hell SHODAN is still alive, and like glAdoS, she's still alive.
Bioshock is really the spiritual sequel to that series(seriously, compare Bioshock with SS2 and it's kind of ridiculous how much is the same).

Arcanum never got a sequel, neither did Nox. I wouldn't mind seeing a Trine 2: Trine Harder...ba-dum-tish. Get it? Say it slow and...sigh...I'll go back to my corner.

Yeah, I agree with Borderlands.
But a sequel for that game's probably definite, based on how popular the original was.

Freedom Fighters. the squad controls were simple and effective, the multiplayer was really fun as was the single player mode. And they hadn't finished kicking the Russians out of America at the end of the game.

Nier.
The world has a lot of unexplained stuff going down. But at the same time...it couldn't feature Nier as the main character. His story seems quite done. So call it a spriritual successor I suppose.
(I need to stop posting about Nier -_-)

Beyond good and evil. It's a very original title, it's based on a book by Nietschze.

(it's a good game too)

Shodan is still alive.
She runs the internet.
She knows the identity of every troll.
She cares for the memes.
She knows what is in the basement.
She makes love to it on Sunday nights.
She bends the rules of the internet.
She gives nightmares to mods in their sleep.

Shodan monitors us all through Facebook and 4chan, and finds us all with Google searches...

Saying Bioshock is the spiritual sequel to SS2 is like saying Pepsi is the spiritual successor to Coke. There's enough room in the world for both of them, but Bioshock is not SS2, and does not deserve the title of System Shock 2's successor.
