But Osama was a bit of an asshole, to the point that he killed hundreds upon thousands of his own people and thousands of our own, not including the GIs killed in combat with his followers. I think you misunderstand what most people in the thread is trying to say.

Some people just don't approve of the celebration of Osama's death, because it doesn't spell the end of terror. That fact will not change no matter how much America celebrates.

American citizens need to realise that this struggle isn't over, because their will be successors in Al-queda, and within a few years they might rise up again to target America, and their could be another attack even greater than that of 9/11.

If i was American, i would be vigilant to my country rather than celebrate, because America just kicked the Hornets nest, and their will be members of Al-Queda plotting revenge on America for this act even as soon as now.

Well i'm not an American myself but when i think that Osama is dead i don't think of celebrating and i don't think the Americans should be either i'm not saying he didn't deserve to die i'm just saying that just because they managed to kill a guy they started a war with in the first place doesn't deserve celebration they should be slapped up-side the head and asked if it turned out to be worth it. You have clearly never read any biographies of Hitler where he wrote down his feelings towards the rest of the world. Or read accounts from the time period where Germany, on his orders, did things bad enough that even soldiers who had spent the previous 1-4 years in active combat had their stomachs turned. I don't hate Germany for their actions, I don't hate Muslims, I don't hate any one group. I do hate individuals and hold them accountable for their actions.

Yup, no real reason to hate him. I mean besides the thousands of innocents murdered, fathers, sons, mothers, daughters, brothers, and sisters who no one will ever see again. But come on, no one really cares about that, do they?

Also odds are that if you don't hate someone for killing someone you cared about, you probably didn't care about them much in the first place.

I think "turn the other cheek" is somewhat in play here. Obviously if you lost a love one as a direct result of this, you're not going to to mourn his passing, but I do know a lot of people who have sons and daughters and brothers and sisters in Afghanistan and Iraq, and none of THEM are taking to the streets in celebration.

I was just responding to his statement that there is no real reason to hate him. Clearly there is more then enough though. Sorry that I didn't actually post my thoughts in my first post.

On Topic: Yeah, some celebration is understandable, but that huge of a celebration? It just seems a bit much, celebrating like that over the death of another human being no matter how horrible...

I hate a lot of people, Bin Laden was a very, I suppose "evil" works, individual, and most of the world will probably never agree with what he did, and I'm on that list. However, the way I see it is as such, all human life is sacred, and the death of anyone should be mourned, because no matter how evil, hateful, and possibly wrong they are, what point is there in hating the dead? So I treat Osama's death the same I do any death, "Eh, it wasn't me, and tomorrow will be the same as any other day."

To be fair, I don't think they are celebrating his death as much as the fact that he is done as a terrorist. Had we captured him alive, I think we would be seeing the exact same reaction.

I just want to point out that it's stuff like this that makes the hole America's public image is in only deeper. Even if Osama is dead, if there is going to be some kind of public celebration anywhere by some group, I am pretty sure it some people will generalize it and then there will be a backlash from some kind of Islamic radical group sooner or later. And then you have a new Bin Laden in your hands.

I might be wrong, and I'm not saying that all americans are celebrating someones death. I'm just pointing out.

My problem is the hundreds of people celebrating who don't even know what this guys done, life's not always as black and white as "he's the bad guy, cheer when he dies"......although whishing the general public would think for themself's is an imposible wish...

How can you not no what he has done? He's responsible for way airport security is for the last decade.

In all seriousness, I am glad he is dead. The fact of the matter is he is a monster who violated his prophet's words to fit his own aggenda. What isn't there to celabrate.
