I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this on here, so I will.

Back in 1999 there was a cool 3rd person perspective action adventure game called Outcast. It was notable for a great story, awesome music from the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, an interesting premise and for stunning visuals for the time (if you had a processor which could handle the software rendering of voxels) - It was the 90's Crysis.

The game was made by a company called Appeal - which was owned by Atari. The game did So-So, It's on GOG right now if you want to see/play it. It's mediocre success wasn't down it's gameplay, bugs or visuals. It was the advent of the 3D card which damaged it more than anything really. At the time people could run low poly games like Unreal at higher framerates with a 3DFX card while the organic worlds of Outcast needed some horsepower behind them. The majority of customers went with their new 3D card which wouldn't assist Outcast in the slightest.

Anyway, the point is.. The developers behind Outcast in 1999 have re-acquired the rights to the game and are working on a reboot of it and they have a new AAA engine. It's on Kickstarter and needs assistance. If you liked Outcast or you like the idea, give it your support. Get the word out so it can be made.

I would very much like to see Cutter Slade save the world and Adelpha running on a modern machine with HD graphics.

Loved the game. It was/is very different and thats probably the bigest reason why it wasnt a big hit. (other than the technical reasons)

Dont' know if I want to help funding the remake though.

I'm pretty sure it'll be amazing if they make it. It'll also pave the way for Outcast 2, which I've always wanted to play.

Outcast is one game where I was genuinely angry with the bad guy towards the end - even though he was a fictional character in a video game. That's story telling done right that is. ..and that soundtrack!

Was actually considering making a thread about this after seeing how far away from their goal they still are, nice one man!

Outcast was brilliant back in its day and I bet it still is, or well, the soundtrack will never age for me at least. Hope they get enough money to make a sequel, would absolutely love that.

I'd like to know how they got the rights back from Atari - it'd be gutting to go to all that trouble (and possibly money) to get the game back and then to not have the game fund on KS.
