I have no plan to ever get one. I really dont need a console game that plays andriod apps. All it is really going to be good for is playing old snes games and such.
It's only $100 so I'll grab one and see how it goes, very least it'll make a nice little media box for downstairs. I like the potential it has though and want to see where it goes.Adam Locking said:So, with the official retail launch of the Ouya less than a month away, what's the public consensus on the smallest next-gen console? Anyone else getting one? I'm going to buy one at launch and pick up the Final Fantasy 3 remake for it. Also grabbing Airtight Game's Soul Fjord when that comes out.
What about existing Ouya owners out there, how's the console looking at the moment? I've heard all the UI and controller lag problems have been patched out, how's it running now?
Same here. Between my S3 and all the other gaming devices I have, I have yet to see anything from the Ouya that would convince me to buy one.ResonanceSD said:Nope, my galaxy S3 is better, and portable.
To be honest, if that video really does the best job of showing off the Ouya, that's none too impressive. Looks like the same mobile tripe you can get for iPhone/Android phones, plus a duller variation on Portal and a WipeOut clones.Adam Locking said:I think this video here does the best job of showing off some of the games and functions of the console.
A bit of a fist of awesome (2:39 in the video) looks hilarious.
This is bargain bin gaming, when you already own all the top tier hardware this really wont interest you.chimpzy said:Same here. Between my S3 and all the other gaming devices I have, I have yet to see anything from the Ouya that would convince me to buy one.
If you can get Megadrive games for it, too, get Sparkster's predecessor Rocket Knight Adventures. If you haven't played it already, it's amazing. One of my favourite games ever.Guitarmasterx7 said:Got one on kickstarter. Thing runs a nice SNES emulator, which is great, because my TV has a huge input delay on standard definition and since it's a decent size it looks muddy as hell.
Now I can finally play sparkster again.
Seeing as they're already porting it to android, putting in the effort to add Ouya controls seems like a good idea. If not, the console is supposed to be very easy to root and modify. No doubt there will be a guide on the net getting it to run regardless of an official Ouya launch.TizzytheTormentor said:Plays android games right? I might get one if the Phoenix Wright: Trilogy comes out for it (come on, Ace Attorney on a Television! SOLD!)
Allegedly they've all shipped as of a week ago, but they're shipping DHL. And DHL is...not the quickest shipping in the world.BM19 said:I backed it on Kickstarter and am still waiting for my shipment... So, yeah, already got one, technically.
No clue how it'll turn out, though. At the very least I can give it to my sister or something.
Saturday Morning RPG actually annoyed me in coming to OUYA, as they delayed the PC port to do an OUYA release.Adam Locking said:I think this video here does the best job of showing off some of the games and functions of the console.

To be fair, they have a lot more than Doodle Jump, and certain games for mobile just aren't suited for virtual buttons -- like Sonic 4 and most other platformers.jnixon said:It looks absolutely abysmal paying 100 for doodlejump? what a terrible idea
Fuck yes! Kocket Knight Adventures was aweseome! Also, it was on Sega Genesis too so I bet it can be found for thatScrabbitRabbit said:If you can get Megadrive games for it, too, get Sparkster's predecessor Rocket Knight Adventures. OT: I'd love to have a go at developing for it. Who knows, maybe I could be the one to convince some of the sceptics to buy it ;D
