Hopefully you got the DLC for that game, that boss was significantly tougher, even if over-leveled.

OT: I try to level whenever games allow it, though sometimes I get bored and just move on with the story so I can get new enemies to grind against. ;)
That boss was completely made of fake difficulty. I beat him in 3 turns, considering that's among the only ways to beat him.

I used to overgrind when playing FFX, to the point I oneshotted Sin. It was kinda funny, but a bit sad as well, seeing the big baddie that the whole world was afraid of being basically cut in half by a blonde, skinny teen. Yes, I used Tidus. Not proud of it, but he did have one of the coolest weapons in the game, so kinda had to use him.
Isn't Wakka's limit break much stronger? You know that slot machine one? I think I one-shotted Sin with that one.
Probably, but I could usually never used him, except for in water, where I didn't have a choice. I don't know why, but fighting with basically a funky football doesn't strike me as effective, no matter how many spikes and blades the balls got.

less than 10 minutes... destroyed sephiroth so quickly
Huh? Since when is 10 minutes a quick battle?

And this

I don't really enjoy games that require grinding. If I'm forced to kill X number of stuff just to be able to fight the next bunch I get bored really fast.

But, if I'm given the choice between grinding and not grinding, I might actually take the grind. It's all about freedom of choice. Just knowing that I don't have to is enough to motivate me.
Also I'd do some grinding in the hand-held Castlevania games and The World Ends With You, but only for rare item drops, not for levelling up.

It's indeed sad, and i am guilty of grinding at times. It can really remove the thrill of an awesome battle. I cherish certain memories E.G Fighting a boss in Persona 4 with the MC left on critical health, the boss would've finished me with a physical attack but I got a lucky counter attack and deflected it, won by the skin of my teeth.

Shin Megami Tensei games however are quite difficult. Nocturne is unforgiving as hell and i only really grinded for the final bosses. Digital Devil Saga 1, Despite being strong enough to beat the final boss and some optionals, I still run away half of the time from the last areas random encounters.

O.k. so some of these games require you to grind, but i have fond memories of being stuck. In a lot of games, any difficulty can be very easily overcome. Theres so much to balance, some games have an enjoyable challenge, but on others i just want to bypass that for the sake of the story.

I've really never done this. The closest I did to it was in FF6 in the WoR where returning party members rejoined at the average level of those already in your party. I would get everyone up to the airship and get a few good boosting Espers then go to the dinosaur forest. Once the 5 or so people I had were boosted to near max level, I'd go pick everyone else up so they'd already be at max level. Sure they were fairly weak for that level as they didn't have the benefit of having an Esper equipped while levelling up, but a level 99 is still pretty good either way.

I overgound quite a bit in my fav castlevania game. The final boss fight lasts maybe 2 seconds.

I haven't played a Final Fantasy before so that's probably why it seems long to me. I have tried to play them, but they bored me quickly. From the sounds of things it was a good decision for me to bail out the games early; I don't like long battles.

Friend of mine had been struggling against Sephiroth for months. He was totally stuck and had tried ever possible strategy. He eventually won, but only because he got double sixes with Cait Sith's dice roll and automatically killed him. It was a million to one chance, and he got it.

I did this in Demon's Souls. What was supposed to be one of the hardest games ever really wasn't that tough.

I overgrind in most RPGs I play.
One of my favorite examples is taking out skagzilla in one shot in Borderlands.

Me too. I finally just got back into the game and just hung out in the Temple of Enlightenment with double exp. leveling up every battle. Crushed that ending.

OT: Play Resonance of Fate if you don't mind the grind. You'll need it.
I stuck in that place under Gongora's Mansion to level up. With Sed's abilities, everyone got 10 exp. every battle and double Sp, among other things.

All I really wanted was to get my immortals to learn the majority of my mortal's skills, but I kind of overdid it...

Ya, Sed had some good skills. I hated Tolten at first but if you break all of the seals, he gets really strong. Fun game.

Did you ever play Last Remnant or Infinite Undiscovery? If yes, were either good?

I like turn based games....
Tolten's 'Ultimate Hit' was fancy, but otherwise rather useless. Divide and Leveler were the best ultimate skills.

Nope, I've not played those. I don't play many turn based games.

I have fond memories of painstakingly leveling my Pokemon in the first couple of areas to levels far higher than they should be at that point, fun times.
