Today, mortality rates have gone down, medicine is becoming more advanced and effective than it used to be, and less people are dying overall. But now we have the issue of housing and sustaining more and more people everyday, and our Earth might not last forever. Do we have any solutions to these very troubling problems?

The first thing that came to mind was killing the super old people who don't really contribute much to society as a whole. All they do is use up resources, and it would benefit us greatly in terms of practicality to kill them.
With that said, it would be incredibly doucehy and heartless.

Live under the sea?
Space colonies?
uhm.. One child per family?
*shrug* we'll think of something, otherwise we just let nature take its course and let the population stabalise itself again once we cant sustain our numbers anymore

We will probably end up killing a lot of people.
I imagine war or disease spreading fast once the numbers rise dramatically.

capitalism takes care of overpopulation for the poor that can't afford food will starve, we will colonize other planets if we can't stay on earth and once we start colonizing overpopulation won't be a problem anymore the end

Outlaw organized religion?

Who knows, it just might help - it certainly hasn't been tried, yet.

actually, I hear that this^ is what the government of China is doing in order to reduce their population: they give financial benefits to couples who have one and ONLY one child, but take them away if they have another...

Edit: I looked this up in Wikipedia to see what else I would find and guess what? They actually do have a One-Child policy. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-child_policy]

I have absolutely no problem with imposing a one child per family rule and in certain situations 0 children!

we will run out of resources and civilised countiries will be invaded by swarms of refugees from 3rd world countries. We will need to find alternate energy or there will be more and more wars.
if you want an example of this look at the middle east. there few resources in the desert, not much food to grow around so people will find ways explain their crap lives; religion. people will then find ways to make people do what they want due to this faith; current day Islam.

Invent time travel, go back in time and steal their resources. It's not like they're using it, they died a long time ago.

I thought thats what world war 3 was going to solve. Oh well why not develop nanotech more that way we can infect the world with nanobots and cull the populations where one needs resources or after we cure everything imitate disease to kill people? Hmm maybe I am on to something what if we do develop nanotech and pharmacy companies program them to make us "sick" then sell us the pills to "cure" the symptoms..they would make even more money then they would ever dream of. Ofcourse it might be obvious when 99% of the population has something.

If Jurassic Park taught us anything, it's that nature will find a way. When the earth gets to boiling point, disease will reign, wipe out 70% and we start again.

Sterilize half of the world's population. Like what they did to the Krogan, only without the dead babies.
