It was called the MIRV. An experimental nuclear catapult. What made it different from all the other fat men out there in the Capital Wasteland was that it shot not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 8 mini nukes. At the same time. There was literally no reason to use this weapon, ever. It could kill pretty much anything if you had a halfway-decent big guns skill (and aim). It could also very easily kill you in the process.

This is kind of obscure, but the car in HL2 Episode 2. I fight carefully through big hunter ambushes, dodging the stupid exploding arrows and using all the conveniently placed explosive barrels, then I can just run over the hunters at the end? I will admit it's really fun though.

I nominate the DMR from Reach. It's immensely accurate with a high fire rate and decent damage. The definition of rape.
Use the Pistol in Halo 1 and then the Battle Rifle in Halo 2 and 3, and then tell me that.

Bad Company 2 has got a lot of them:

M60
Carl Gustav
40mm Grenade Launcher
Shotguns w/Slugs

And of course....
The AN-94. The very definition of overpowered in BC2.
Really? Maybe its because I am a MW2 veteran or the fact that I havent played it much, but I never had a problem with those guns (Albeit the Shotgun attachment).

Truthfully the only gun that was ever easy mode for me was the M16.

OT: Call of Duty's UMP.

People argue that its not overpowered for a call of duty game. Its stronger than almost every assault rifle, and the ones that are more powerful than it are only by one shot.

Consider this from me, and average player. I put on the UMP my game immediately goes up by 10, guarenteed.

I'd have to say the Torque Bow in Gears 2. You snipe people with freaking explosions.

Grenades.

I hate them so much.

All people do is lob all their grenades at a place they think an enemy is and get easy kills, no skill in it and if like on BF2 you have a support kit that's unlimited nades.
Not to sound like an ass... but that's kinda what they're for. It's not like grenades are a magical video game-only technology, either.

Magic in Oblivion, by its very nature its overpowered.

In the old DoD 2.0,iirc, the BAR was too strong.
How is magic overpowered? This makes little to no sense
Magic in Oblivion can do everything. Everything. It makes a ton of skills useless (who need sneak when you can turn invisible at will? Who need lockpicking when spells can do it instantly? Who need "personality" when you can charm anyone to 100% with a single, 1 second spell?) Also, with summoning a mage can always have a meatshield ready.

It doesnt require gear to be good, you just need one ressource: mana (magicka).

Plus you can update/upgrade it whenever you want as long as you have acess to the "craft your own spells" thing.

Pure warriors and rogues simply cant compete effectively against pure mages and critters past level 20.
In Oblivion who needs security when you can pick Very Hard locks at level one and charm everyone to 60/70 with a minigame? Also when you use a sword every level of blade and strength makes the sword stronger which isn't the same for magicka. Apart from paralyze all the combat/stealth class needs is an enchanted item that absorbs/reflects.

I actually think warriors are more imbalanced due to the insane amounts of health and the fact they can do everything stealth and mage classes can do because instead of odds based on skill for success it's just minigames.

Seems like Halo games always have an overpowered gun then.
(And, on an unrelated note, I want to know why all the Brutes were on vacation during Halo 1.)

The Hammer of motherfucking Dawn from Gears of War 2. Sure, you can only it for like 15 minutes, that's 15 minutes of pure, neverending suffering for the Locusts.

Also, The Redeemer from Unreal Tournament 3. One shot of this GLORIUOS weapon will kill EVERY living thing on the map.

Wouldn't it take skill to throw a grenade in a place where you know an enemy will be when the grenade explodes?
Not in BF2. In BF2 they're mini-nukes that can be thrown as far as most conventional firefights take place, and everyone gets 4. To top it off, the Support kit has infinitely respawning ammo bags to essentially give everyone nearby an infinite supply of ammo (read: grenades), and the kit has a machine gun as the primary weapon.

The elites didn't think they were worthy of being deployed on Halo, or they just weren't in that certain armada.

The king tiger tank in CoH, it will destroy every tank the allies has guarenteed
This, so many bloody times this! I've had TWO Pershing tanks knock on a Tiger, one from the front (essentially to tank it (forgive the pun)) which got repaired by an engineer squad, and the other hammering criticals at the Tiger's rear armor. End result? One engineer squad and two Pershing tank crews K.I.A. while the Tiger wobbles back to base to get repaired from it's 40%-ish remaining HP... From that moment on, I've never played it online anymore, singleplayer all the way >_>

Tibetan War cannon from Clive Barker's Undying. Seemingly sucks ammunition out of thin air, then throws ice(?) shards at the closest enemy in a shotgun-style blast. Short range, decent damage, unlimited ammo, and you obtain the weapon waaaaaaaay too early in the game for it to be any less than a completely overpowered spam gun.

The AWP in Counter-Strike.

http://femmefatalecss.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/snip_awp.jpg

Fuck that overpowered gun!
It's not overpowered at all. The point of AWP is one shot kill. And because of it's power it's expensive, it's heavy and slow and you can't move if you wanna hit someone. It's not an easy task to master this weapon. Maybe you just suck at Counter Strike :p

An overpowered weapon is UMP45 in Modern Warfare 2. It has no flaws. Most SMG's are overpowered but this one takes the crown.

no one else seems t think this... but in cod4 the m60 was so overpowered when used with the iron sight because if you used it right you had a sniper with an a amazing clip that could still do full auto fire, at least thats how it was when i was using it ;)
