yeah that sounds like a pretty messed up system thing. I think that they should just go ahead and make it free. that or make it like $0.50 ea map.

Ah, the joys of free updates for the PC.
It isnt going stay like that forever saddly... once games for windows starts taking over everything micro$oft will have control over dlc on the pc too

personnaly i dont think it will be long before were been charged to get a patch for the games... dlc i think is the worse thing to happen to games due to the fact its encouraging companies to make a full game, then just before release saying " hmmm what can we cut out and sell back to the public at a later date?" games are becoming arguably shorter, and more pricy...
Thankfully Games for Windows has almost no chance up against Steam, and we've all seen how supportive Valve has been with TF2. I think Xbox 360 users made a lot of big mistakes, they never raised any stink over subscription fees for XBL or DLC, so they get what they deserve: more and more micropayments and other assorted BS.
I think you have no idea what happens in the Xbox360 community. LIVE users (myself included) constantly complain about the price of LIVE and DLC, we have been for a long time now. For example: When thousands and thousands of people put "MAKE XBOX LIVE FREE" in their mottos a while back. Its just that Microsoft has ignored us to death and now most people have given up on complaining. Also, it doesn't help that idiots used to go onto the xbox website and complain about every tiny thing i.e; "OMG LIVE IS WAY 2 EXPENSIVES IM BUYIN A PS3 I TORRENT GAMEZ!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!", without giving an actual valid reason or a proper argument.

Yeah DLC is just getting to not be worth it. Fallout 3's DLC is way overpriced for the length of game added on to it. Though I think the worst offender is Sims 3, they make these stupid (tiki or ancient era)item packs that barely do anything to the game then charge you money and have the gall to call it premium.

I actually had some fuck try to tell me the COD4 maps are on the disc. Bullshit, I've had the game for six months. I'd have played them buy now if they were.

Premium themes are a rip off too. I wanted the Banjo Kazooie theme, but 800 MS points? You must be having a giraffe.

Except it doesn't work that way at all.

Microsoft doesn't own the PC platform.

Edit: Anyway, all DLC is overpriced. Every ounce of it.

Ya, The DLC stuff is wrong in some cases in my opinion. Stuff like the horse pack and whatnot. But things like Most of the Fallout Expansions and things that add hours of new gamplay, that is worth ten bucks. I have both a 360 and a computer. I used to be a console exclusive gamer, but now I am a PC gamer for the simple fact that the PC has mods. And in my opinion small DLC and whatnot for the PC should be free, or at least cheap. Partly for the fact that in order to keep up to date with your hardware with the newer games you have to fork out hundreds of dollars every year, if not more often. That is my only problem with the PC as a gaming platform, but the free stuff and mods make up for that. I also don't mind DLC so much if I can get it on a disk. I just don't like the idea of the only copy of it being in digital form, I like to have a hard copy just in case. And as for steam, I have heard alot of people complain, I haven't heard much about it though. From the sounds of it you have to log in online to play even a single player game? If so that is cr@p. Not everyone can have access to the internet every time they wanna play a game.

Well game developers have to pay the bills too, you can't really expect them to make shit for free...

However, I say this as PC gamer, if I had an X box I'm sure i would have a different perspective :p

Hahaha that always makes me laugh. Did anyone actually pay for that? It cost more than most of the quests you could download.
I'm sure all the DLC I've got is overpriced. Some more than others but they always charge more than what it's worth. If you compare the price per hour for DLC and an actual retail game, you'll notice a very significant difference. I've already payed full price for the game so I don't see why I should have to pay so much for DLC especially when the developers seem to have left out features intentionally so they can charge you for them later.

Haha, very true.
Seriously, PC gaming doesn't have as much DLC ripoffs. We have crappy PC ports made by third party developers that don't give a damn for PC.

Downloadable content is beginning to cost me more money than games themselves. So far I've bought all the premium DLC for GTA IV, Saints Row (excluding map pack), Saints Row 2, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Burnout Paradise and Crackdown. I also bought Halo 3's Heroic Map Pack and Call of Duty 4's Variety Map Pack. Since then I have never bought any other map packs. Gamertag changes, gamer pics and themes are also things that you won't find me spending a penny on. What's odd is that so far I haven't really been disappointed with anything I've bought (other than those two map packs).

Also, when avatars were first revealed, I immediately said that before long they would charge money for game-themed clothes. Sure enough, what did they reveal at E3?

yeah those are the ones i was talking about, i haven't downloaded them either but the pitt and broken steel are supposed to be the best of them, anchorage is to short

but the two new DLC they're coming out with sound to be worth it or atleast the alien ship one
i got all 3 of them and the pitt was my favorite but anchorage is basically just a weapon pack and broken steel is a level cap increase and the ability to continue after the main quest.

The Call of Duty Map packs are always bad - World at War - £7.99 for 3 maps and 1 zombies and 4 was also bad but I think with last Thursdays update Killzone 2 Wins - 2 Maps from Killzone 1 for £7.99 - What Crap
Except that it's £4.79.

And killzone maps are pretty huge.

I don't really mind, considering if DLC doesn't seem worth it to me, I won't buy it. I've bought all the Fallout 3 DLC and enjoyed each one of them, and I feel I got my money's worth, and I do plan on buying Point Lookout when it comes out. I've bought the Halo 3 map packs and feel they were worth it, too. It's all subjective really.

However, it's undeniable some DLC is utter bullshit. Look at Beautiful Katamari, they had a ton of levels added as DLC a week after the game came out, and all of those levels were already on the disk. The DLC levels were some of the best in the game too... (I bought'em. It was only like $2 each, I'm a sucker for Katamari.)

And they do have some discounts on popular DLC on Live every once in a while. Operation Anchorage was 33% off a week or two ago. My favorite of the discounts was for Oblivion, in big letters it said,"HORSE ARMOR NOW DOUBLE PRICED!" and in small lettering beneath it,"All other DLC half-off."

I dunno, in some cases I can see the need for DLC and indeed sometimes think they haven't made it DLC when they should have, such as the Guitar Hero band exclusive games like Aerosmith. However, some DLC is just bullshit attempts at making you pay more for a game you already paid about $60-$70 for, such as Broken Steel for Fallout. Actually, I never knew Micro$oft forced you to pay for pretty much all your DLC on the 360, which is complete and utter bullshit.

Not only am I on the "I'm glad I play on PC where the updates and Mods are free" bandwagon but I've also pretty much stopped playing my 360 because of the price of DLC. I got pissed when they pulled that crap with Halo3 and rebuilt my computer. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Please do not support priced DLC unless its worth it (FYI - 4maps for $10 = NOT WORTH IT)

Software piracy is your friend. You get stuff for free and the greedy corporations don't get to bleed you dry. Everyone wins.

I have all 3 MGO DLC to this date and I still don't think they were a waste of money, I got two new characters, 3 maps, the ability to play competitive and more gear. Plus the maps being quite large for that game.. It is good?

Ok, of the 3 maps you only liked 2, and half liked one. So you were satisfied with more then half of the map pack. The other... idk 15 cents is going toward the people who actually loved all of the maps. If you don't have 10 dollars to spare you do not deserve the maps my friend, you should be hard working to feed your family. Suck it up, you don't have to buy them
