Why was it important to provide that level of characterization in a team based shooter game? What, does she get a buff when she's recently looked at Widowmaker's ass or something? How does character sexuality even matter in that game?
Seems more like Blizzard saying "Oh, look at us we're being inclusive!" while actually meaning "Let's whip the simpletons into a frenzy for more free press!"
Why is it important to know that Genji and the other Japanese character are brothers? Do they get a buff if they recently worked with each other? Why is it important to know that Widowmaker gets off on killing? Does the player get an orgasm transmitted through the controller for every kill she gets? Why does it matter that Winston is an idealist, who took his name from the scientist that raised him, and wants to genuinely save the world and make it a better place? Why does it matter that Soldier 76 and Reaper have a history and are rivals, I could go on and on with
every other character detail that's been published that has nothing to do with the game. And yet, nobody seems to be bothered by all that "extra, unnecessary data", but someone's sexuality is declared? All bets are off it seems.
