On an article of "How to create must-have Wii games", video game analyst Michael Pachter says the following about the Wii,

"The Wii audience isn't sophisticated enough to know whether the game they're buying compares favorably to, say Gears of War or LittleBigPlanet, because they probably don't own an Xbox 360 or a PS3," Pachter explains.

"They buy the Wii games that they buy for the same reason that people go to McDonald's. McDonald's doesn't win a lot of restaurant critic awards but they are approachable, they're consistent, and you know what they're going to serve you."

"I mean, who sells more food -- McDonald's or Ruth's Chris Steak House, which certainly serves better meat? Nintendo has become the fast food machine. Sony is very much the high-end restaurant. And Microsoft is somewhere in between."

I have a Wii and an Xbox 360, and I've only bought the decent games, not the cookie cutter bullshit minigame assaults. This seems to be generalising at it's worst.

The Wiis alright and it has potential, but unfortunately that potential is wasted on a ton of cookie cutter games that are average at best which gives the console a bad rep. But if you find the good games its a very good system.

I think the main problem here is lack of these decent games...Not every game has to be as deep or complex as Bioshock/Half Life 2 etc but Wii games fall into mostly greasy fun for an hour Happy meal toys.

So where does that leave the PC?

Microsoft SUCKS. I have had 4 xbox 360s. All have broken...ALL OF THEM!
Um, irrelevant to the conversation. Bad! *smack*

It's kind of true. But the 360 is the Taco Bell. PS3 is the Papa Johns.
I don't have a PS3, so I will avoid making any comparisons there. But to me, the 360 is more like a Chipotle (to continue with the tex-mex theme)...fast and relatively cheap, generally very enjoyable and high quality, but occasionally with a gristly piece of meat or a piece of a corn husk in the salsa.

EDIT: Damn, I should win an award for this post. :D

Wait, the American system is the Mexican food?

As for what Pachter said, it just sounds derrogitory.

This makes me laugh. I haven't bought a Wii game in a long time, but most of the hyped games you see for 360 and the PS3 are FPSes...the most cookie-cutter genre ever.
It's what people want nowadays, so they pay that no mind.

The 360 reminds me of Chili's or the Olive Garden. It's still fast food but it's dressed up and given atmosphere to convince people who don't know any better that it's fine dining.

Meanwhile, the PC is Le Bec Fin or Nobu or Alain Ducasse.

I'm sorry, but...you failed. I disagreed with your post, but I was willing to respect your opinion until I hit the end.

Oh, the pain...

The PC is where the Gods dine, while the console users serve cater to their whims.
The only drawback is that the "food" often takes a bit longer to reach the PC table.

Nah, I was just simply refering to it being just a bit better than the Wii.

I somewhat agree with the guy. The Wii's target audience probably doesn't know what makes a game good, the same way the average person doesn't know what a good burger is. At the same time I, there have been a few shining gems for the Wii, and just like link670 said, it's potential was wasted. But I can't exactly say that the games for the Xbox 360 and PS3 are better then the game for the Wii (I have a Wii and PC). Halo 3 and Gears of war aren't all that amazing though. I can tell you that Wii music appealed more to me them Gears 2 did.

Isn't it cute that you think you're better than me because of a spelling error?

And if your respect for people amounts to them spelling things properly, you seriously need a reality check.
