So I can get 120 gb PS3 for 299. Or I can get a 250 gb 360 for 299. But the 360 needs a price drop? Really? I guess that extra 120 gbs is valued in the negatives.
Compared to Blu Ray, Free online play and having some exclusives it is. The PS3 is running rampant over the 360 in terms of value for money right now.
Well the exclusives pretty much even out. Might be free online play but you gotta pay for things like party chat (or know someone who does pay) which MS gives for free. So it really comes down to blu ray vs 130gb. And for a person who can't see the difference between a blu ray movie or a regular movie played in HD so for an average non technophile Joe the 360 should be the better deal. And they will save 10 bucks per movie to boot.
Really? I don't feel like getting into an argument about online or Blu Ray, I wouldn't pay for Party chat, and I can see a clear and obvious improvement in Blu Ray. But exclusives? Of late the 360 exclusives have amounted to Gears of War, Alan Wake and Halo: Reach. Compare that to Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Demon Souls, Resistance, Motorstorm and Little Big Planet and things look grim. Throw in that Alan Wake is unlikely to form any kind of long standing relationship and Bungie have gone multiplatform and the only exclusive of any kind the 360 is ever likely to have is Gears of War.

I think S stands for "small," "short," or "super." If you actually compare the new and old the S is only marginally slimmer while it's significantly shorter and smaller. Super just means better so that would also work.
360 Super? Personally I prefer the 360 Squat.

I kind of agree with this. But in a slightly different way.
I just think, if you think it's to expensive... don't fucking buy it !!! It's not like we "need" these machine to live like food and water.
I know this is a bit off topic, and sure, a price drop might well boost sales somewhat, but for now it costs what it costs, buy it, find it cheaper/second hand, or don't buy it if you think it's to rich.
I like cars, I can't afford a Pagani Zonda, so I don't whinge about it and drive something else. Same thing.
That has literally nothing at all to do with Angerwing's post. If anything, it's more like you being able to buy a Pagani Zonda for a fraction that an Australian could. And just to make it clear, we don't have it nearly as bad as some other countries.

If we're talking about an 'average joe' I don't think there's any more benefit in having an extra 130gb of disk space. I'm still only at around 70/120gb on my 360 elite and 50/80gb on my PS3, and I'm a pretty heavy gamer.

I'd say that with this thread hitting 3 pages and people debating the issue quite strongly, it was worth posting the story, if for no other reason than helping the forums stay lively.

It's not a troll, it's just an opinion, if a rather obvious one.

Also, to be fair, if you say something obvious as a spokesman, you're an unimaginative idiot, if you say something unexpected, you're a nutcase with his head in the clouds.

I still think all console companies vastly overprice their storage. You know it's still over £10 for a 8MB PS2 memory card? WQhen I can pick up a 1000GB external drive for £50, I don't expect to have to pay more than that for a 60GB 360 HDD. Honestly, 320gb HDDs are selling for like £30 now, and that's retail, does the 250gb Xbox really need to cost £100 more than the old Arcade model?

In future, remembering that they'd love to move over to digitial distribution to cut down on piracy, they'll need to remember that we're buying games and the storage, if they screw us on the storage, we'll not be able to buy so much in the way of games and movies and other content.

ORLY??? Have you thought about looking into the non super popular exclusives? Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Deadly premonition and that is off the top of my head before I have had my coffee yet. You could at least try to do a bit of research before spouting such fanboyish nonsense.

That's pretty desperate, S:GW isn't even an exclusive and never mind "super-popular" both titles were extremely poorly received critically and commercially. Deadly Premonition may be divisive enough that a limited number of people would consider it a bonus to owning a 360 but nowhere near the scale of the more major releases. I'm surprised Limbo wasn't more top of mind for you but regardless none of these are really titles that will sway the decision of any significant number of people. For a consistent perception of value the 360 simply has to be significantly cheaper than the PS3.

Ya Limbo is off my radar since some JACKASS here blew the fucking end for me. You also forgot the $30 mic that comes free with the 360. And I was refering to the list of titles you gave not mine. 360 has a few exclusives that flew right under the radar. At the end of the day both have a few good exclusives that can sway someone either way but I don't see how you can say the 360 needs to be cheaper when most multiplat games run better on the 360. And lets face it the multiplat games are really where it is at. Killzone or Halo can't compete against COD. Even with Activision trying to make gamers take it dry.

"Non-lead based solder"? Wtf?
Solder traditionally was a lead-tin mix. The electronics industry has been eliminating lead from the solder it uses to make electrical connections for the past 10 or 15 years. This was to reduce lead poisoning both in the industry and in the market. Now they use non-lead tin alloys to get similar melting-flow-cooling properties. Unfortunately, one of the benefits of lead was the elimination of "tin whiskers" that can cause shorts. This is the current "big issue" in solder chemistry.

Well whatever the story,I'm not paying another 300$ for a fucking rectangle thats just going to RRoD in 3 months and then wait another 2. Hell I've been through 4 of'em already and now they want an additional 100+ dollars to "fix" what the fucked up 4 times already? Ummm no. Thats Microsoft's half-assed nature trying to save a buck in productions..
"Non-lead based solder"? Wtf?
Lead-based solder is nigh-illegal in most of the world. Even where legal, there are issues with disposal.
Illegal? Well it worked damn well when it wasnt.. Microsoft and they're 85 billion dollar industry should at least fund some research in some real durable solder with at least 85% efficiency of the frowned-upon lead based variant. If they did that in the beginning they wouldnt be out over a billion dollars in theyre game sub-division.

You're pissed because THE ENTIRE ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY, not just MS, has moved away from a material that causes birth defects, low IQ, all sorts of stuff? Wow. I mean, really, wow. Tin whiskers hasn't ever been the reported problem in the XBoxen anyhow (whiskers cause shorts, not heat issues, and good flux solves the "wetness" issue mostly), so, again, why are you picking lead-free solder to get all mad about?

Are you a solder chemist?

Ugh, same thing happened to me. It's true I forgot about the mic, but considering the headpiece fell off 3 seconds after opening the packaging I don't think "$30" is an apt description. The problem with exclusives that fly under the radar is that they all flew under the radar. As it stands I'm stuck with a 360 and a huge case of buyers remorse, it made sense at the time when it was significantly cheaper and had plenty of genuinely interesting exclusives. Now I really wish I could play Little Big Planet, MGS4, Demon Souls, Infamous, Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain or Brutal Legend online, while the only game on my "at least I can still play" list is Gears of War 2.

I'm not,I was just saying quote "wtf" unquote. I'm PISSED because I'm out over 1000$ of Microsoft stuff! I'm PISSED because they WON'T make any reliable game hardware! I'm pissed because I should've BOUGHT A FUCKING PS3!
YOU brought up the fucking solder!

FYI my last 360 had loose solder on the GPU. That is what ticked me off. It didn't even red ring that time. Just error message E71 or one of those. Right after I just bought another year of LIVE time,4 months ago. You cant say your not mad yourself about all these console failures. And yet here I am,venting my rage to some random guy on the internet,YOU.

I'm not wasting anymore money. Trial and error.

Wow pachter, are you psychic!? I honestly doubt anyone apart from Activision (thanks for backing kotick's subscription plans, you traitor to the free world!) is listening to this moron anymore. He either states the blatantly obvious or downright fallacies.
I believe the correct name is The Xbox 360 Squat
SCOOP!
