Give this a read:
Paedophiles camping in Miami [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8110356.stm]

It turns out that you cannot live within 2,500 ft (760m) of anywhere children gather (pools, parks, schools etc) if you are a convicted child sex offender in Miami.

This doesn't leave many places to live in Miami so around 70 of them are living under a bridge in tents with no running water, toilets, trash collection etc.

I'd hope we all agree that their crimes are, on the whole, horrible but if we are going to release people after serving their time in prison, should we give them access to housing etc upon release? Is prison meant to be the punishment? What should happen with these people?

Your thoughts.

Let the trolls live under the bridges where they belong. Once a sex offender, always a sex offender, people don't change.

Its a good lesson anyways. Whether it is a troll or paedophiles, the underbelly of bridges should always avoided.

Maybe we should extend that kind of logic to people who commit vehicular crimes, of any kind. That'd probably help a lot more in the big picture - one drunk driving charge or speeding charge, you can't drive ever.
I have no problem with that. You kill someone drunk driving you shouldn't be allowed to drive. I like it!

Thats great but I do wonder how long they will stay there. At least if you know where people are you can monitor them and act to stop further offending. If they disappear then it's not an option.

*Hands you a cookie* Well played.

This is pretty crappy though, they should at least have somewhere they can stay. Not much incentive for them to do the right thing either, prison sounds better than living under a bridge.

slight difference between drink driving, and raping children. drink drivers are much less likely to re-offend for one thing.
let them live under there bridges. better yet don't let them out of prison and take their human rights away.

No joke this is actually pretty foul. They served the time now the need to be given their rights once more. Ha ha ha ahh thats always sounds funny saying it out loud.

But seriously under a bridge is ridiculous. They should at least be given like a small area of land specifically for them.

I didn't say kill. I mean, if a person gets caught speeding unlawfully or driving drunk, what stops them from doing it again? I say, take their car, rip their driving license, and make it impossible for them to ever drive again!
Plenty of people drive without a licence.

The shouldn't have erm with children.

They deserve death, not release from prison.
Currently there is no death penelty for sex offences so until law changes we still have the tent problem.

You're right they should not be around children but that doesnt solve the problem. Most people who are abused are abused by a family member or close friend of a family. You are highly unlikely to be snatched off the street walking home from school. So is 2500 feet over kill?

If you are going to kill sex offenders then where do you stop? I'd have the death penalty for drink driving or driving while under the influence of drugs if were bringing it in. Best kill him before he kills someone else. Plus any offence involving a weapon.

My gran would have it for theft and burglary. The prisons could soon be empty if we carry on down this line.
