It is the exact same principle. You still get off on seeing others get hurt. Real or fiction you still have those emotions so are just as likely to snap as anyone else.
But lets play it your way. I am sure you have seen boxing or hobo fights or even jackass. These are still people getting hurt for your enjoyment.
If looking at CP makes you turn into a rapist then watching violent stuff makes you more violent. Any other argument is just being a hypocrite and trying to defend your own perversion while condemning someone else.
As for the police, they have departments of people who are trained to track down child molesters. Who can trace IPs, can track down the owners of websites. Who have facial recognition software and who are allowed to hunt for this sort of stuff.
I disagree. Hobo fighting as you so charmingly put it is exploitation. I wont be watching that. Boxing bores me but well look at MMA and jackass. These are adults consenting with other consenting adults. Carrying on your comparison, I guess it can be compared to adult legal porn. Everyone is consenting and can say "stop, I want out" at any time. They made an informed choice to do it, whatever their motivation. They chose to be there and can choose not to do it if they wish.
A child cant make these informed choices. Often they have no say on taking part in this abuse. Even if they did children cannot consent to sex. Its still rape.If I saw an adult shoot a child with a stun gun like in jack ass I would be disgusted. It would be abuse. The same if I saw an adult ground and pound/head kick/etc a child.
I never said watching child porn "makes you a child rapist". If you've read the rest of the thread I've said previously that the internet has, in a way, criminalised some people who would never have harmed a child. But they had access to this abuse material and couldn't resist. I still think that the sentensing should be harsh for the crime sa it is serious. There are however a few individuals who will use it to fuel their fantasies and will act on it. Just like some mentalists get their cues from horror/violent films etc.
I work in criminal justice and have heard far too many offenders argue that their internet fetish never really hurt anyone. It's just not true.
You are right about the authorities having kit to track down abusers. But if youre hoarding CP then you are still hoarding evidence of abuse, without a thought for the victims.
