I think I'm odd. I've gotten a really nasty bruise on my leg and bitched basically the whole week till it healed. About a month later I broke my tibia and fibula, cracked my clavicle and crushed my hand all to hell (8 screws in the wrist and pins everywhere else level) in a car accident. 92% mobility back three years later (doctors guessed 70% at max, screw em)... once I was out of surgery and then the hospital I went back to college. and wrote with my busted to hell left hand.

Moral: Little things I ***** a bout but bigger stuff I just keep going.

When I sliced my thumb open I had the doctor pry it open wider so I could get a picture.

When they say pain is in the mind they're not bullshitting. When you know that the pain you're feeling is from an injury that isn't going to kill you, it's easy to block it out.
Good point! I believe the mind over matter thing to a degree.

I've put cigarettes out on my arm to prove this point [stupid, I know, no need to tell me!] I too, have a pretty good pain tolerance. ^^

I have a low tolerance for pain. A friendly slap on the back has caused me to say ow on more than one occasion. My doctors say I have a pretty high pain tolerance but I don't believe them.

I don't really see a point in getting a higher pain tolerance seeing as how I avoid anything that could cause me pain.

I make a fuss about minor pain, but it will take a lot to convince me to use painkillers of any kind.

For me, if I have access to some, yes I'll have some painkillers, but the funny thing is the only pain I really can't handle is the persistent light pain from headaches and the like.

I had to learn quickly, I broke my ankle post camping in the Canadian north, I had no choice but to hop the portages and deal without any pain meds for the three day trip out. I would say my tolerance is much higher than it used to be.

I get badly hurt all the time (Under 18 soccer is not for the weak) so now I'm just used to pain and can handle it.

It depends on what kind of pain-like, where it hurts. For instance, a few days ago I donated some blood, but made the mistake of shifting my arm before being stuck. So the nurse had to poke in and around the vein before the blood finally started flowing. It hurt, but my fellow volunteer winced a ton more when her turn came. But when it's stomach or head pain, I notice it even when it's really faint. I'm just more sensitive to it.

I suppose I have a pretty high tolerance of pain. At the very least, I never use painkillers, but that's just because I'm incapable of swallowing pills (my gag reflex is impeccable!).

unscrewing coaxial cables hurts my fingers, and I got a wart because of it.

The only time I've ever even taken painkillers was directly after having my wisdom teeth extracted. Otherwise I use the "tough it out" method of pain management we guys are so often fond of. It takes quite a lot to really immobilize me.

Well when I was little I tended to get hurt every five seconds so I developed a tolerance for pain fairly quickly also I don't like to take any form of drugs so I avoid painkillers in fact I have never used painkillers not even the sedatives that they give you at the hospital and that is saying a lot since I used to go to the hospital at least once every week normally because I tripped and opened my head....

I had handle a lot of pain, just as long as I don't think about it. I have to, since I have severe Tendinosis (sometimes called chronic tendinitis) in my legs and feet. The amount of pain it causes me is quite a lot, but I have been able to block it out (when I'm walking or running it can flare up though). The worst thing however is when I'm tired, I can't block the pain. It hurts a lot.

It's all right, I guess. When I cut my hand or something, it's not really the pain I worry about, more the threat of infection.

A shot to the balls though, that'll keep me down.
