No, I agree with you here. While our languages are living languages and change as we speak it, I dont think we should reward bad literacy and verbal skills.
In the eyes of a linguist, there is nothing like "bad" language. What the most people say, is common use, so its part of the language. Its not a evaluating science, it is observing.
So its merely enough that a word is used or printed enough, to embiggen the vocabulary of english :p;)
Thayts a kewl storie broe butt i think i khan diswade ewe.

Well, we got what we know as modern English from people making up words and repeating bad grammar until it became the norm. That's how linguistics says language works and evolves.

However, Palin obviously doesn't believe in evolution. Her made up word was obviously an example of (un)intelligent design.

Ba-zing!

ughhh... every breath Palin breathes makes me angry. i actually considered McCain a viable candidate until he picked Palin as his running mate. i will admit that i tend to lean a bit more to the left, but, yeah... Palin embodies pretty much everything i hate about pretty much everything. what's really scary is this new talk about Palin actually being a viable PotUS candidate for 2012 :( damn, she makes Dubya look like a genius.

i really shouldn't post this, 'cause i'm sure some tea-partier will jump up to defend the Mad Hatter, but, yeah... she just incites me to rage.

oh, and back on topic: yeah, i am absolutely livid that they'd treat "refudiate" as a legitimate contribution to the language :(
Wait T_T please please tell me that was a joke, are they talking about her being a canidate for 2012....That's how the world will end O_O.

Speaking of which why not add IM speak to the lexicon you know like jk, lol, brb, and lmao that kind of crap. The only reason her mess up was a big deal was because people mocked her for it, and why not internet memes they are used a lot.
