Drag me to Hell was way too filled with cliches. Me and my father sat through the whole movie nodding and saying to each other what would happen next. We were right 100% of the time. Even nudging each other and saying "FORESHADOWING". It was bland and insipid, the only interesting thing being the dancing possessed. You want something scarier? The directors original horror film "Evil Dead" with "Evil Dead 2" still being superior as a horror film to DMtH.

Of course Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are superior (they're bonafide horror classics), but if you ARE a fan of those movies, i don't know how you can't have at least some appreciation for "Drag me to Hell"?

Raimi was back to the zany, kinetic style that won him his fame in the first place! That movie was just such an enjoyable romp. Between the seance scene and that scene in the car with the stapler... That's classic Raimi right there.

I disagree. The only good scene was the seance scene, everything else was just painful to watch. "It says you have to sacrifice an animal", "But I'm an animal rights activist!" *pan camera to kitten. DuHHHHHHH, well I wonder what's going to happen next. *rolls eyes*

And if you couldn't see the ending coming from a mile away then I'm completely shocked. Raimi removed his wit, humor, and shock elements only to replace them with gross-out moments. "Oh look, she threw up again!" *yawns*

Bored, bored, bored, bored. Hello, producers of Paranormal Activity, the only point in the use of Youtube-like, "realistic" cinematography is when there is something real going on. It doesn't really work when the viewer keeps thinking "I am being trolled and this is boring" throughout the movie. Blair Witch worked because it was marketed as REAL footage and it scared the living shit out of those fortunate enough to go to the cinema with that in mind. A week later, when it was revealed that it was a hoax, it was equally pointless, but the hoax was well intended so I didn't hate it in the end, I was thankful for the experience. But this is pointless from start to finish. Stop making those kind of movies now, it's over, the boy has cried wolf waaaaay too many times.

You thought Drag me to Hell was good?

Fatal Frame 2 for PS2. You obviously haven't seen many scary movies...
Please don't mention that game.

I still have nightmares every once in a while.

Ugh. I was forced to see this movie with friends. It was bad. I made fun of it the whole movie.

I even laughed aloud at the ending. Especially because I thought the girl looked so damn stupid.

But the footprints part was the worst. The demons not invisible! ITS ETHEREAL! ITS NOT FUCKING THERE! ITS JUST MESSING YOU WITH YOU FROM BEYOND THE CORPOREAL WORLD DAMN IT! I mean how do you explain it took over the girls mind? Did it just stay invisible and chill in the corner? NO! IT WASN'T ACTUALLY THERE!

Oh, and something I forgot. The one thing on my mind after watching this movie was: Couldn't we have had the story of that other girl that chewed her arms off instead? That at least sounds more interesting. Sure, it would have been an Exorcist rip-off, but I'll take that over a Blair Witch rip-off any time. Poltergeist was scarier than this shit. And it was a PG-13 movie. And it was 30 years ago. And it wasn't filmed like a Youtube clip. But you know, you need to actually have some talent as a director in order to scare people without grainy shots, flickering lights and cheap gimmicks.

I tried 5 times to watch the Blair Witch project, it bored me so much I was falling as leap in the middle of the afternoon trying to watch it. Tried at night the first couple time and passed out so figured attempting during the day might work and I passed out then too. When I finally made it through the movie made me really laugh at those who found it scary.

I still read the full review but after seeing your title I already knew I wasn't going to bother.

I swear i posted a response to this yesterday (know i wrote one up) but it doesn't appear to have actually posted. Bizarre.

I'm not saying this was a horror classic or anything.. Yes alot of it was predictable. You saw the twist at the end coming a mile away.

I still argue that the ride was a fun one. I didn't go into it expecting some deep, edge of your seat thriller. I went in looking for a good time, and i got it.

I think the cat-scene you mention was actually kind of key to the definition of Lohman's character in the movie. She's very meek and soft-spoken.. She's someone you WANT to root for, but then in this scene you have it confirmed that she's really a selfish, self-centered individual who really deserves what she's getting.

Dude, all this passing out might be a medical issue, you might have low blood sugar or something, check it out.

I was and still am in pretty good general health. I just found it so horribly boring it put me to sleep.

Since The Blair Witch Project, was the only, and I repeat only, horror movie that scared me, I'm looking forward to watching Paranormal Activity, but to be honest, I'm a little put off by these comments.

I thought this movie was pitiful. What's scary about this movie? There is literally no suspense, you know when something is gonna happen. It's actually more of a comedy in my opinion. The characters were annoying and unlikable. Also, WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST GO CHILL IN A CHURCH? If I'm gonna watch something involving a demon, I'm also gonna play by the rules of "God is real and powerful" too.

I walked in expecting to actually be scared by a movie for once and I didn't get anything out of it. I instead got a headache. The Arkham Asylum game was scarier than Paranormal Activity to me.

I know I'm the minority on this one, but the people in my theater didn't seem impressed either.

Huhh.... Please ... I feel bad for anyone who came here and has not seen the movie. NICE JOB ON THE SPOILER WARNING.

So on the off chance that Yo did not read the OP

SPOILER WARNING

Anyways. Scariest movie of all time.

SCILENCE OF THE LAMS.

what parts were most scary, the suggestive parts. hannibal talking to this day still gives me nightmares.

over the last years Scary(I say scary because i don't want to get into a fight over wether its a thriller or a horror or a slasher and so on) movies have been all about throwing gore in your face and expecting you to be scared.

Laddies and gentlemen finnaly a movie that is truly terrifying.

I laughed my way through, The exorsist, last house on the left, halloween 1 and 2 by rob zombie, All the jason movies, most of the saw movies. I was on the edge of my seat pacing during this movie.

Suggestive horror. This couple emotes and seem like real people. Thats a key element in Scary movies. If they aren't real then the movie no longer seems real and once a horror movie looks fake, It's instantly not scary.

take your average couple and put them in this situation, how would they act?

The Husband would probably laugh it off and remain generaly calm, till shit really hits the fan. And the girl being the one the demon is following would probably be getting more scared and scared through out the movie. IE ECACTLY WHAT HAPPENS

99.999999999% percent of the people on the escapist could not make a better movie( it has been along time since i have seen one this good) and almost nobody on earth could make a movie that good with that little budget. Michael bay had 200 million dollers and made the Shittiest movie i have ever seen. This guy had 10 to 15 grand.

This movie gets in your head. I'm glad he had a shitty budget because that forced him to rely little on Specail effects and go the Physcoligical root(AKA the much much scaryier root.)

This movie gets in your head, When foot prints show up that don't look like human footprints rather then show you it lets you fill the blanks with your imagination. May i remind you that what you picture in your head is much scarier to you then What the directer might put up there

This movie has the most effective pacing i have ever seen in a movie period. It starts slow and the goes to medium and leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting for The fast. And when it hits consider your heart 1000 bpm faster.

YOU want good plot. You got an excelent plot told by characters that seem real

You want scary, this movie does it in a way that leaves you scared to go to sleep that night.

Like the TV show house.

This is a fresh spin on a plot stucture that has grown rather tiring

98 out of 100

THIS MOVIE IS A FUCING MASTER PEICE.

I thought the film was watchable, though I saw the 'director's cut' with a different ending.
Are you by any chance talking about the ending where

Instead of Micah running downstairs and then getting hurled at the camera he is stabbed by Katie who then slowly walks back upstairs with the knife still in her hand and a bloody shirt and then sits on the floor for two days straight until the cops finally arrive and shoot her after she comes at them with the knife, wondering where Micah is.

I found that version on some website called "Zuploads" or something like that. I think it was also missing some other scenes.

At least you spelled "you're" correctly.

Generally I expect lots of spelling errors with responses like that.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119361/ - 25 Grand.

I'm sure if I took the weekend I could probably make a list of fifty amazing films for around or under 100 thousand dollars.

But I was more shocked by you basically saying everyone on the Escapist is as talentless as Michael Bay.

That's pretty fucked up.

Okay. Fair enough, what i mean is that for the low budget this is a Great film

I did not say the escapist was as talentless as Bay. I was using bay's Fuck up of transformers as an example of how budget, light shows and special effects can still be a bad. I simply said that most of us on the escapist if we had the resources this guy had could not make a movie this good.

This is extremely true. None of your have any appreciation for good pacing and suspense. You have been addicted to the notion that horror movies are fast paced gore sprees. I am saddened that this revival of Hitchcockian horror was poorly received by some.
I know one kid who hated it because it wasn't scary. I asked for an example of a part that was supposed to be scary but wasn't, he told me:
"There was a part where there was a noise behind a door, a character opened it, and nothing was there"
I facepalmed, and mentioned that it's supposed to build tension, but he really didn't give a crap.

EDIT: Not saying everyone who doesn't like the movie is like that, just providing an example.

Can you tell us what parts are ACTUALLY supposed to be scary then?
